Schprobs:You are right bro Why will anybody want to become an artisan...when you will see someone that is privilege to own a car.... treat a vulcanizer like an animal and look down on him like someone who do not deserve to live.....same goes to bricklayers and plumbers who are treated like a second grade human....who will observed all these inhuman and want to settle for same...ko possible. |

ppl in our country could make life terrible 4 these artisans. Nigerians could be natural slave masters especially some women. Some will see good artisans and underpay dem Forgetting there is a NXT TIME. Later will complain about no more good builders/ house helps/mechanics e.t.c. They give you a bill, pay if you can afford if not ask for a less competent hand. Don't discourage them by saying "no b only dis dat" Yu can't do dat in developed countries with standard for services. I know the value of having food and stores to buy them (things might soon change) soo I leave d least change for sellers 4 just encouragement. I take it as a church offering. |

Kate06:Mind your language boy. I am clearly not your mate. It is mindsets like yours that brought us to where we are. I am not rich yet but I am damn well comfortable. Married with two handsome boys, living in a lovely 2 bedroom apartment in the heart of PHC. A landlord and currently driving my second car, a 2009 Toyota Camry (spider). Started my own company after resigning as technical head from a well known multinational company you would kill to work for and I am still in my mid thirties. All these are possible not because I have a degree in computer science or a diploma in computer engineering but because I learnt a technical skill during my one year I.T. A skill that opened doors that my formal education couldn't. A skill that took me places and gave me connections beyond my imagination. So once again. Mind your language boy. |

Shoodboi:I have no issues with yahoo guys and content creators and their likes. I just cited them as a form of reference The thing is that everybody wants quick money and the easy way out. |
| Re: Artisans And Craftsmanship In Nigeria: A Looming Crisis. by Nobody: 8:37pm On Mar 12, 2022 |
Onyewarri:I thought as much but at the same time, it's derogatory to people in those fields since you added legit trades to an illegitimate one. On the other statement, digital/tech money is not quick money. You'll spend years rolling in the mud before seeing anything. You could start earning few weeks/months after learning but you'll almost never achieve your full potentials until a few years. |

Shoodboi:Most people don't know that. They think is quick money or easy money hence the rush into it. |

Obagreatdatoye:Many artisans out there they labour with pain and hungry are not riding okada keke or conductors just to survive. Same Nigeria when u render service to customer to pay your balance it's a big problem. Nigeria must suffer it for treating us likes trash |
| Re: Artisans And Craftsmanship In Nigeria: A Looming Crisis. by Onyewarri(op): 10:13pm On Mar 13, 2022 |
Schprobs:Some people actually find it hard to pay for services rendered, artisan or not, it's their nature. Same way others also pay heavily and still go as far as giving tips and thanking you, like you did them a favor when they are satisfied with your courtesy and professionalism. Such is life my bro, don't let those difficult ones discourage you. |

Just this evening, I was on the phone with my cousin and she was lamenting how difficult it is for her to get a block moulder/brick layer for her ongoing project. According to her, all the artisans she got kept giving her excuses and telling her to give them more time even though she has waited for some of them for over 2 weeks now. At some point she became worried and started feeling that something else is wrong. I told her not to get herself worked up, that it is not peculiar to her. That it is the situation of things now and it may get worse with time. She also confirmed that her husband said something similar to what I told her. So guys, you see. What an elder sees sitting down......... |

ChybuzzDD:You are not in the field. Contact the right person, you will get one in few minutes. There are lots of them without job presently. I'm speaking from experience, because I'm an electrical contractor.
