As time goes on, the woman is mentally and physically stressed. She make money and give the man to send to his family like it's his money. Yet the family badmouth her. The man will never open up that the money is from the wife.

When I wanted to travel outside the country, everybody was like go and study nursing. They will push and push you. Some work more than 12 hours a shift go home and become a wifey. Cook and wash. Some men can't even load the washing machine.
The worst is the money you give them, they use to have side chick. Some of these wives know and it's a stab in the heart.
The things I see here, gosh, any man that come out to cry, I have no pity at all.
What they do here is shocking and they do it boldly and with pride.


As for those who earn more than their wives, no be naija man again. He willstill behave like one regardless.

No woman want a divorce or a broken home. All the broken homes I have seen and intervened in, 98% is caused by the man.
And guess what, if they are married to non Nigerian, they behave.

And some of these non Nigerians don't even care to make a single Nigerian dish for them, yet they are in it enduring. Why nit replicate it for your naija wife. Is she your slave?

I think Nursing is one of the jobs people can easily get through and get a job right away if you can put some efforts and it has OT unlike other jobs.

I don't know why Nigerians in Nigeria have this obsession that nursing is the highest paying job in America. Its just a regular career, shitty job shitty pay.

There are tons of better paying jobs that other quieter, more polished Nigerians do and do not make noise about it.

The problem is majority of Nigerian nurses in America never made income whilst in Nigeria or very low income. So when they see small money it turns their head and the need to take care of their poor families in Nigeria.

But for a fact the percentage of Nigerian marriages failing in US is smaller than marriages failing in Nigeria. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of separated/divorced marriages among Nigerians living in Nigeria. But if 20 marriages of Nigerians abroad fail then it makes headline news. Are you expecting 100% marriage success rate because they live in America. ? Every street in Nigeria has a separated/divorced person

I am not agreeing with the bolded. I understand some men relaxes when their wives start making the money and go into car exportation business which I find irritating. However, I will advice these women not to do over time (many do because that is where their extra money for the flamboyant lifestyle comes from) so that they have enough time for themselves to do some of the chores they need to. This will also help the men involved re-align their thoughts/positions and perhaps, continue with their hard work may be reduce it a bit while also, improving themselves.

One of my relatives retired as a level 8 nurse. All the kids have grown and moved out. Husband was sick for so long. At a point, she took him to care home so she can breath. Kids supported her 100% cos this lady has really suffered.This lady was responsible for her family both extended.

Reality is diff from all these nairaland talk.

Come to uk and see what our men are doing,you will shake your head.

I have said it before, anybody that has a level headed man has a diamond and should be ever thankful cos many are not finding it easy.

True. What I have noticed over the years is that these women start to lose respect for these men when they start to make money and then these men are not making that much. This is especially true when the ladies thought they were coming to the US with a guy that they saw in Nigeria as been very successful.
Another angle is that, these ladies lose more respect for these men when they see other Nigerian men making good money and their own is just getting by.
They like to compare their men to other men.
I'm not saying it's right, just my own observations.
They will say why can't you make money like your mate. I know of a guy that brought a girl from Nigeria, they had twins, she left him simply because his friends were making more money then him and living a higher standard than them.
And this was a long time ago before lottery that brought in so many people .
At the end of the day, a lot of women in Nigeria will like to leave their husband's too but they lack the financial capacity to do so. The US allows them that freedom that's why it seem more rampant here.
That's the bottom line of all these long talk.

I don't understand how people do this comparison ooo. You do not have an idea what the other person is doing and the best you can do is to work hard and be contented with whatever you have. One thing is you might work hard, study hard, and do everything and fate doesn't bring you the best you think you deserve. Interestingly, many might even think you are not smart enough (based on how our society reasons).

That said though, I would encourage men to support their wives to be well empowered and also, not neglect themselves in the process. There's no crime starting with a survival job, the crime is remaining in that position forever. I understand sometimes, due to the stress that people have gone through, it is sometimes difficult to start all over, but it is better late than never. If possible too, they can run it side by side.

That's is how my Uncle who lives in USA for more than 20yrs came back in 2020 to marry a Nigerian lady.

My Uncle filed for her to come and join him in USA.

Lady went for her USA Spousal visa interview in September 2022.

After 2 weeks, my Uncle fell sick with stroke after hearing she failed the interview.

The Visa Officer gave the wife conditions to bring "Evidence of Marriage".

His job didn't give him Health insurance and he didn't have private health insurance so he was brought back to Nigeria in 2023 for treatment.

His job was not too strong in USA.

America refused to treat him.

This lady was in Imo state working and never came to see her husband whom we were now taking care of in Lagos.

We called her and she kept on giving excuses that she is working.

The day she came, this lady came with Camera Phone and was just snapping series of pictures of both of them together.

She snapped over 200 pictures of herself and my uncle.

Snapping pictures with a man that is sick and managing to recover.

I suspected something suspicious and told my family about it.

In December 2023, we got a call that the lady has traveled to USA finally

Though we have no proof.

Meanwhile my Uncle is still in Nigeria recovering from stroke.

He can't even walk as we speak.

I am so angry right now

She used my Uncle to travel to USA for her own personal gain.

Last week, her old father in the Village came and brought back the bride price my uncle paid

Everything was just a trap

My uncle was just a vehicle they used for their daughter to move to the USA.

Who knows if this stroke affecting my uncle is even a spiritual attack from her and her old father in the village?

Men please be wise.

Some women are evil.

Well, a lot of men will not disclose to these women that they are barely surviving in the US. When these women gets to the US then their eyes opens up.
The Indians also bring their women over but in most cases, the man is also making good income from IT jobs unlike Nigerian men doing cabbie or even unemployed. At the end of the day, most of these women will lose respect when they start to make way more than their men. Especially when they feel deceived.

Generally speaking, those sides tend to be more cultured regardless of how much their men are making unlike our women who easily get lost

Those that aren't in that industry feel challenged OR driven by envy to make it by all means.

That's why Texas is the headquarters of Nigerian fraud. That's why Nigerians in Texas are known as the most flamboyant and competitive. It's the oil money again, the same thing followed Nigerians abroad. The Nigerian community in Texas is very interesting.

As to marriage, the key is PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENT and don't be unequally yoked.

Most likely she presented those pictures to satisfy the US embassy required evidence of marriage, was given the spousal visa and she traveled to the US with it. This is a very evil woman. What she did is called Immigration Fraud under US law. Punishment for immigration fraud in the US can be as harsh as a lifetime ban from US immigration benefits. Once you expose this woman to US authorities and provide documented evidence to back it up, her green card will be cancelled and she will be subjected to deportation proceedings. If she goes underground in the US (which she will likely do), immigration may not bother to look for her (as she's not on the priority list of deportation like violent felons and criminals). But she will never be able to get her papers in the US which means she will be unable to legally work or be part of the system in the US. She will always have to lay low, live underground and pray never to get into trouble with the police in any anti-illegal immigration state like Texas, Georgia, Mississippi or Alabama etc. If she ever travels outside the US, she will never be able to re-enter. Even if she re-marries another US citizen, her prior immigration fraud permanently bars her from being given any residency or citizenship benefits.

If this woman at least shows some kindness to your uncle by arranging to send good money to him regularly until he has healed completely and able to return to the US to resume work, I woulda said leave her alone and let her be. But if she coldly used him and abandoned him, you can respond to her evil by doing this:

Get a lawyer in Nigeria to write a petition to the US embassy documenting your uncle's sickness and treatment in Nigeria. Specify that (1) the woman committed immigration fraud by making misrepresentations to the US govt that she is actively married to your uncle but that she's not and SHE NEVER WAS and (2) that she only visited him on his hospital bed ONCE and it was ONLY for the purpose of taking pictures to present to the embassy and (3) that she has cut off from your uncle since, (4) that her father returned her bride price. (5) Your uncle must get a divorce certificate from the courts here in Nigeria. This is very important!! It will be much better if the divorce certificate shows any date preceeding the time she went to the embassy as this would show she presented a non existent marriage at the time she approached the US embassy to get the visa.
(6) attach as much evidences as you can to the petition (7) your uncle must also sign the petition ( 8 ) get the petition notarized by a notary public (9) Send the physical copies of the petition (and attached evidence) to the US embassy in Abuja or Lagos.
(10) copy the US Department of Justice office of Immigration Fraud and Abuse prevention program in Virginia, USA (The office's physical address is: Executive Office for Immigration Review, 5107 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22041. Put this address on the second copy of the petition you will e-mail to this office). Scan all these petition documents into digital format and e mail them to EOIR.Fraud.Program@USDOJ.gov

Once you've provided the US authorities with requisite info by taking the above steps, you've ignited fire under the woman's ass both in Nigeria and in the US. You can rest easy. The US wheels of justice will whirl into motion and catch up with this evil woman from all angles. Justice will be obtained for your uncle.

Your pay scale is accurate, but with a little effort to get a Master Degree equivalent in Nursing, their pay jumps to minimum of $130K/year.

Nurse Anaesthesiologists for instance earn over $200/K per year on average. I personally know two of them. Here's a Google search for starters:

By the way, the MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD income in the USA $65/K per year or about $30/hr. So where are these other jobs that pay better? Do they offer the same job security? I've always advised young people from poor or middle class homes to strongly consider nursing. It only takes 2 or 3 years to become a Registered Nurse, after that you can do whatever else with the backup of a secure income with very FLEXIBLE schedule. Anyway, that's why nursing careers are very popular among Nigerians.
