Every now and then they raise this matter even when no one is talking about it just to have something to latch on to and create chaos. That's what they did during elections. No Igbo man was even talking about it then, but they made it a topic to create distraction and use it to fan embers of Yoruba hatred against Igbos and then sway them from voting Obi.

GRACEGLORY:
They're not worked up on it.

There are those claiming the state is a no tribe's land... and causing a tussle

Can one go to Niger State to claim it's no man's land, or Anambra State to claim it's no man's land. Even though we are all one Nigeria, we have our diversities, cultures, and origin.

And that should be respected
Yorubas are too welcoming, today we are paying the price for it.
In Igbo land they sell land for non indigens in very few places, they generally don't.
Look at Kano with the population of Igbos, Yorubas and other tribes over there everybody is restricted largely to one corner Sabongari. I have never heard any Yoruba man saying Kano is no man's land.
Igbos with all their gragra and noise dare not try it, we the Yorubas brought all their nonsense talk to ourselves.

If he is asked to mention two non-Yoruba prominent persons who have uttered that statement within the past year, he would enter voicemail. It is not even 2025 let alone 2027, the statement rears its head again.

Nigeria's elites are too useless for my liking!

Crude oil proceeds from the Niger delta region largely built Lagos. What if the oil producing areas insist that the crude oil in their domains are for indigenes of the oil producing areas?
Nobody today tells other British people that London is owned by indegenes of London. Nobody today even claims he or she is indegene of London. Only in Nigeria do we hear quasi illiterates always reminding others about who owns Lagos. Mchew.
Declare Oduduwa Republic fully; thereafter, do whatever you want with Lagos.

Story for Amadioha! You people started the rubbish and now we all know you people's intentions so it is good to always remind you people that Lagos is Yoruba land, we will continue to serve that reminder election or no election.
Even without that how many Yorubas could have voted OBI? He even go some, next election will be red for him because now we know better.

The real owners of Lagos have warned these criminals to stop claiming land that dont belong to them.

U carry empty hand they claim land.

Ordinary Oyo cannot surbvive without Federal allocation.

It is still our resouces that is sustaining them small.

Don come empty handed to claim land.

He is very clear and eloquent. Lagos is not no man's land. It has indigenes who have no where else to go. If you are from elsewhere, you are resident in Lagos.
Well said oloja elect.

Sure, lagos is the property of the Yorubas.

That the Yorubas even get worked up on this non-issue is bewildering.
The only people causing trouble are the regular people we know. Of all tribes in Lagos, one particular one will start dragging the land, politics and everything about it with the indigenous people.

LAGOS IS NOT YORUBA LAND

Mitsurugi:
I agree with the first part but the second part has extenuating circumstances to it. Lagos is cosmopolitan filled with different people not just Igbos. First I think it's wrong to assert that people don't want to hear Yoruba. I know a lot of non indigenes that sing Yoruba songs with gusto. Go to churches for example. Even at parties and clubs without knowing what they're singing sef. Yorubas sing Igbo songs too.
But I think it's arrogant to presume everyone should know your language simply because they are in your land. It happens a lot in government offices. You arrive and a government official goes into Yoruba and the takes offence when you admit you don't know the language. This goes to every tribe. Igbos do it. Hausas do it.
We should go back to the days of programs like WAZOBIA to promote an understanding of our languages and foster mutual respect and unity.
My brother, I am not saying people should or must speak a language that they do not understand, or in offices or at official functions..
I am talking about people who just show hostility towards the language, even when they understand and can even speak it.
I have witnessed situations in churches when uneducated old women/men give testimonies, and there are interpreters to translate their message. The moment they start speaking in their local language (Yoruba), you start hearing some people grumbling, hissing and making noises .
A few weeks ago in Lagos, I had to silence a passenger in a commercial bus who was challenging the driver for speaking his local (Yoruba language) with another passenger, even when the driver had told him that the person he (the driver) was speaking to is a fellow Yoruba man who understood his words.

He said it and he has been corrected. That time he said it he have issues with the state of his mind. Period
Moreover, when he said this he did so with a pure mind to show the inclusivity and hospitality of the lagosians/Yorubas.

If he had known that a specific (long-throat) tribe will take this statement literally, I'm quite sure he would've held his tongue.

Jakande never meant it was not Yorubaland but that everyone was welcome

Even Freetown is not No Man's Land
Precisely.

Shallow talk.
The money from Niger Delta was used to develop the whole of Nigeria
Go to Kano, Sokoto and Maiduguri and call them ''no-man's land'' and see if you would survive.

When Awolowo was using cocoa money to implement free education, all the Niger Delta and SE indigenes living in the old western region were not excluded; they all enjoyed the free education like the SW indigenes.

Now, you can no longer think and talking shallow because of oil money.
You see how you used to deceive yourselves and your people?

I will ask you two questions and you can never answer it;

1) Mention any prominent person from the east and south south who were educated in the west with Awolowo's free education program?

2) When did the western Nigeria become the highest producers of Cocoa in the world just like the south east was acknowledged the highest producers of palm oil in the world in the 60's?

Where were you when the military government of Nigeria were building Lagos with Niger Delta money?

For instance, I remember when Babangida asked Julius Barger to build that 3rd mainland bridge that reduced the traffic hold up in LAGOS then and many other infrastructure and you never claimed nonsense.

Have you people been able to build the 4th mainland bridge after all these years?

Give us our money back and take back your Lagos or continue to accept that Lagos is NO MAN'S LAND.....
Nonsense.
Didn't you read history and see how Azikiwe almost changed his name to Yoruba names so that he can rule Lagos? Lagos has been huge even before Nigeria in 1914. The oil found in Niger Delta were drilled for 50 years with money from the West & North. Cocoa & Lagos Seaport in the west and groundnut from the nut. Nigeria was once under regional control and the SW region was the outstanding best overall. Go and verify!
