gidgiddy:JAGABAN can do anything. Remember that in order to Local Governments to be independent, the Constitution must be changed, but JAGABAN did it, JAGABAN arm twisted the governors and got it through the Court. So, just watch as the JAGABAN does this also, that is if it is true that it came from him |

oyichi:Only a referendum will save this country. The country should be divided. We don't reason alike, we don't believe in the same thing. We have issues on social media all the time. I can't wait for the country to be divided so we can all develop at our own pace. Make I see why SE no go quickly develop pass others. |

Beremx:Mineral and Agricultural exploration and exploitation will be local and be used for regional development. It will make every region to grow at its pace. It will bring about long and short-term development plans that will be tailored to modern civilization. Laws and policing will be grassroots. |

vanbonattel:Save Nigeria? That would be If it was done by a serious person with altruistic mindset. The problem here is that tinubu is crooked with a hidden agenda. Ultimately, the west will orchestrate a regional structure that will cause more chaos. For instance, they intend to carve out much of the gas rich parts of imo and Abia and hand those over to Wike and co in Rivers. Another flash point will be kwarra state. Last time they mentioned this bill, within a week, the north served the government the notice for those riots. |

God bless Tinubu I hope this comes to fruition |

MadPolitician:Can you please shed more light on the bolded part? |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by MadPolitician: 5:04pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
Guestlander:Regionalism is the best for the country. There is no doubt about that. But the problem is that the country is so charged up politically at the moment. As a result, everyone is suspecting one another. Buhari and Tinubus government of nepotism, do not help matters as they can not build trust across regions in the country. If the regions are caliberated in a way that recognises ancient boundaries and demographic realities, then the bill will stand a better chance of succeeding. But if it becomes another vehicle for ethnic jingoism and resource grabbing, it will only create another avalanche of problems. Last time a supposed draft bill similar to this one, was bandied around. What we saw was a plan to bring in kwarra into the south west and remove the oil and gas rich parts of imo and lump them into Rivers state. You think if that is done, it will help to lower ethnic agitations in the east or worsen it? |

A power hungry clown is who you think will give you regional government? When the North threatens his relection bid, let me see if tinubu will not throw away the regional govt agenda. |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by Guestlander: 5:13pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
MadPolitician:Exactly what is wrong if the people of Kwara wants to be in the SW? Did anyone consult them before they were placed in the north? This here is the root of most problems in Nigeria. Why can't people of shared geography or culture or whatever decide whether to want to be together or not. If people of Kwara decide to be part of the north I believe that should be respected as well. When Midwest was carved out of the western region did heaven fall? |

Guestlander:As long as your opinion doesn't change when the people of Delta or Rivers, or some parts of Benue or Edo, wants to join the East, we good. |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by Guestlander: 5:19pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
MadPolitician:Why would it change? As long as nobody is being forced into a union they don't want to be a part of. |

domack99: Very funny lot. Anytime citizens are angry and talking about serious issues(Edo election, interest rate, 0.05 charge, fuel price, insecurity, poverty etc) the government of the day looks for distractions to buy them more time to continue their shenanigans(this issue of regional government has been one MAJOR issue alot of southerns are in support of... And de are milking it well till it stops working). And as always, they'll always have willing Nigerians(some ignorant of their motive, others not e.g like the O.P) promoting the nonsense. It's well sha. |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by HandsomeSkeleto: 5:39pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
Beremx:Basically basically, each region control its own resources and manages its own territory. They then make contributions to fund the relatively 'weak' central government.... Whereas, items on EXCLUSIVE LEGISLATIVE list such as Currency, Defence and Foreign Relations remain within the ambits of the central government. |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by APCHaram: 5:46pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
Watch and see how all SE legislature will vote against this bill. Even on this thread they are already opposing it. The only time they will agree to restructuring is if the old Eastern region with the SS states as vassals is catered for. No Ibo man will ever support restructuring because it will see to their region being exposed as the most poorest and most dependent on the FG. |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by APCHaram: 5:48pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
vanbonattel:And we know your Ibo legislators will expose it if the current geopolitcal arrangement is used to create regions Nothing has changed since Jan 15, 1966. |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by APCHaram: 5:53pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
gidgiddy:I talk am. See the IPOB spokesman has spoken. The only reason for the Ibo coup of Jan 15 was to prevent the COR region from being carved out by the Federal Parliament after all attempts failed at Enugu. The same creation of States by Gowon was what made your Ojukwu declare Biafra and drag the Ibo weary minority people into his Biafra hell hole. I have said it time without number that the north isn't the problem of the south but you Ibos who have come to see both the SS and SW as territory to be colonised by yourselves . Whether you like it or not, regional government will be established and you will either decide to be a self ruling and sustaining region for the first time in modern history or you can carry your five plot and become a pariah state |
| Re: Breaking News: Bill For Regional Government Submitted by APCHaram: 6:05pm On Sep 24, 2024 |
Beremx:Wrong. It is your yeast that will be worse hit . The north will be free to exploit their huge solid mineral resources and tap into agriculture as a mainstay when the feeding bottle from Abuja is removed. What will your SE use to sustain itself ? Once this regionalism comes to be, you will see your Eastern region begging FG for assistance . Azikiwe made this same observation when he warned your Ibo parliamentarians at Enugu house to do everything to foist the clamour of the minority people from leaving the old eastern region. Azikiwe warned that if the minority people were to leave that the East will become the poorest region. This is what neccesitated the Ibo coup of Jan 15 whose motive was solely to prevent the federal House from granting a referendum for COR region. You staged a coup for it, dismantled the regional arrangement for a centrist one and even went to war to prevent SS people from getting their own state. I dare say that even since 1999, all your legislators have been at the forefront alongside the north opposing resource control for oil producing states. No be today. Ask yourself when last you heard your fellow Ibo man calling for a return to regional assembly ? Never! |

APCHaram:This one keeps various stupid monikas to quote the same nonsense. The same Calabar Ogoja Rivers have had their states more than 40 years now, where are they today? They control their resources even less now than when they were in the Eastern Region Nigeria is a lost cause, we should all go our seperate ways let everyone go and restructure themselves they way they like rather than continuing with a country doomed to failure, no matter how it's restructured |
