YOu declared someone wanted, if the person should show up at your office, you are expected to arrest such person regardless of who accompanied them to your office.
There is nothing wrong with being accompanied to a police or law enforcement station. It is done all the time
The EFCC boss should concentrate on his job and leave propaganda for social media content creators.
Bellow was wrong for evading arrests with all sorts of tactics, but once he showed up, he should have been arrested right there.

The IGP should have ordered the security details of the Governor to effect the arrest if not all of them should be replaced with those ready to obey the constitution.

Nigeria's armed forces are more powerful than Gov
Usman Ododo's security personnel. The EFCC should have informed the IGP if the EFCC truly wanted Yahaya Bello arrested from gov Usman Ododo.
Was a Boko Haram bomber not arrested from a governor's Lodge in Borno state? Yahaya Bello can also be arrested in company of a governor with immunity.

Yea, very funny and complicated, that's the ugly part of immunity in the hands of a typical Nigerian politician, the governor's aides could have legally shot at anyone trying to bring harm to their principal

But can't his lawyers do all of these on his behalf? Because come to think of it, the accused usually will not take the stands until much later in the case. So can't the law be amended to allow his lawyers do as much as they can do for them since they do not want to show up in court. Because in this case, the law is asking you to come defend yourself and you are running then the law should be able to use that to assume that there is a high probability that you are running because you are guilty and you should only have yourself to blame in that case.

Due to doctrine of fair hearing, you can't try an accused in absentia, he or she must be present to take plea and make a defence. However, some (very few) countries allows trial in absentia in rare cases

No, the lawyer can't. He will always take a stand from the moment the charges are read to him.
As long as you are right on assumption of guilt, it's just an opinion, the law won't deal with opinion

Other accused individuals have from time to time being escorted to EFCC previously. This is bot the first time. They should have at the minimum tried to arrest him right there.
