It's definitely something that has to do with the Course and line of duty ,and I don't think any sane lecturer(or person) will do that without asking for consent from the person involved .


Rags Days are days to 'show off' .
I remember a ragday/SUG week Parade or so , where Mech engineering guys had Car metals as costumes.
