You people are hard to please. You said you want 24hours light like other nations and you were given 20hours in some locations. Now the story has changed. It's no longer give us power but it's too expensive. So, basically you want everything to be on Subsidy or free. Was that how America and other nations developed ? Even the smaller West African countries around us are paying more for their steady electricity. You want to go to heaven without dieing. Funny people.
Oga stop praising bad policies, that is the reason Nigeria is where it is today

1. Put your refrigerator on half duty cycle, it should be off at night..
Bullshit

A fridge that's always on will consume less power when it's cold enough for its compressor thermostat to cycle off...

For example, my own refrigerator when it becomes cold enough, its compressor shuts off for 40 minutes and turns on for 15 minutes

But if you switch the fridge off, the compressor will run continuously to replenish the chill, thereby consuming more power

2. Invest in grid tied Solar system. This takes advantage of the 20 hours power availability. You do not need to buy batteries, but you need a good Hybrid solar inverter with grid connection. For every 4 used solar panels, you will produce 1kwh of electricity daily. The more you have the more you produce. As a rule of thumb, each 300w solar panel will give you an average of 50w for 5 hours or 250wh or 0.25kwh.

A normal house with lighting TV and refrigerator, without Air conditioner consumes about 6 kwh daily. Putting your refrigerator on day cycle will reduce 1.5 kwh or credit units leaving 4.5. Adding 5 solar panels, will reduce it to 3.5 kwh. Adding 10 Solar panels will reduce it to 2.5 kW hour. Because you must use lighting and fan at night, you cannot go lower than 2.5 kwh daily without investing in Storage batteries which are the costliest part of solar with 2 or 3 years short life span.

At 2.5 kwh per day your electricity bill for band A will be 2.5 x30 days x N230= N18000 approx. Not bad for 24 hours light.
who uses 6kwh per day in Nigeria? My 3 bedroom apartment here in Benin city,i don't use 5kwh in one week.I have washing machine i hardly use,I wash my clothes with my hands.I dont have AC,but during extreme heat period,i use my industrial fan which slightly increases my power consumption.I am not on band A,but if they give me 20hours in band A today,i cant spend more thank 5k per month.

Invest in Solar instead of paying the huge Band A bills

My solar saves me nothing less than 35k monthly. My recharge is around 20k for NEPA consumption. If I was not using solar, I should be spending close to 60k monthly on bills. IKEDC Band A bill na die, but they are doing well. They have been consistent with the minimum of 20hrs light in a day

You get Solar still dey pay almost 30k bill monthly.

D light wey e no chop when u off am, e go chop am when u on am because the compressor will run continuously until desired temp is attained

Meanwhile a fridge that's left on will consume very little power when it reaches desired temp, because compressor will only be cycling on for a very short duration
