Tithe remains a valid Biblica way to honor God almighty. Only overemphasizing on Tithe at the expense, of Justice, Mercy & Faithfulness Matthew 23:23 is what Jesus rebuked the Pharisees about.

Pastor Adeboye only apologized in that clipon the statement that Tithing is a condition to make heaven. He never said that Tithing is not Biblical. If you are a child of God, honor Him by paying tithes, even greater percentage of your earnings is encouraged. Tithing on its own remains biblical.

Baba is beginning to understand the scripture deeply. We need people to speak as the Bible says, not adding to it. Damina might have emphasized this tithe issue(but He is not always right on other issues) that some preachers are beginning to have a second look at. Baba will one day say tithe is not compulsory in Christianity as he has rightly said you could give more than one-tenth. The people I pity are the sheepish and gullible followers who are worshipers of men rather than God. Baba Adeboye is not a proud man.Thank God that he realized and apologized.These pastors are humans and they are not above mistakes. Dr.Abel Damina was the person who opposed that saying that if you don't pay tithe, you won't make heaven. Personally, I knew before now that it was a wrong statement.VDM couldn't have done shit about it .

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God" (Hebrews 12:14). It seems like the criteria for getting into heaven have become increasingly lenient over time. Before, it was believed that one must believe in Jesus' crucifixion, death for our sins, resurrection, as well as confessing to one's sins, and most importantly you must pay your tithes regularly. However, the current standard appears to be simply making every effort to live in peace with everyone and striving for holiness.

I can't help but wonder how many people have been misled by such teachings of tithing over the years. For decades, many followers of Pastor Adeboye lived their lives by giving most of their incomes to the church—not even to charity organizations, orphanages or their poor neighbours, but to these so-called men of God. Now, after all this time, we're hearing that the teaching about paying tithes to ensure entry into heaven was wrong. It's disheartening to see what these Nigerian self-proclaimed men of God have reduced Christianity and Christians to. This calls into question the legitimacy of religious leaders who promote such changing doctrines.

Another similar case is that of Kumuyi of Deeper Life, who preached against watching television for decades. Many of his followers diligently adhered to this teaching, depriving themselves of news, entertainment, and even the internet. Sadly, some even died following this belief. Later, Kumuyi began televising his church programs on NTA, satellite, and even on YouTube channels. It's astonishing that he didn't even seem ashamed of misleading thousands of people.

It makes me wonder if some of the verses Christians use to condemn others, including Muslims and Jews, for not accepting Jesus' death for their sins, his sonship, divinity etc might also be misinterpreted. Perhaps the best approach is to "follow peace with all men and strive for holiness", leaving God to judge us all in the hereafter. After all, He is the best of judges.
