In addition to tax collection efficiency, I would be ecstatic if these new laws (once passed) resulted in less corruption at the affected agencies.

You collect money on behalf of government, yet the government has to beg you to repatriate the money to it huh

Also, agencies like Customs, FIRS etc are allowed to keep a percentage of humungus revenue they collect to cover 'administrative cost'.

The current system is a farce.

Good to see that the most courageous, and innovative government probably in the history of Nigeria is making these far reaching changes.
what is courageous and innovative about this government?

what makes it "the most courageous, and innovative government probably in the history of Nigeria"?

what are the "far reaching changes" it has made and it is making?

Taiwo Oladele, Chairman of presidential Committee on tax and fiscal reform, is doing a fantastic job. I am happy that Mr. President is giving full support. When you appoint a square peg in a square hole, the result is what you see.
Re: Tinubu Plans To Bar Customs, NPA, Others From Revenue Collection by atiku4President(m): 9:37am On Oct 05, 2024
This one will be good. The revenues being collected by these other various agencies is the major motivation for highly democratised corruption practices in the Nigerian system.

Another good move by the president.

If you have lived longer in Nigeria, you'll understand that most policies are not basically for the electorates, but for the convenience of the chief executive...I mean if you use a longer axe to dig deeper.

Nigeria is always fortunate with unfortunate leaders who are solely interested in adding the title of the president to their name.

Bola Tinubu Ahmed, whatsoever his name is, has no progressive blueprints for Nigeria. It's gonna be failure and propaganda press releases until they remove him and force Shettima, the loud jakass who is now doing like a quiet tortoise, on Nigeria.

The only truth you need to know is that inasmuch as they keep travelling abroad for medical treatments, and ex leaders permanently living abroad, they will continue to milk the country so dry until the aerolas of green fades, and her nipples bleed.
About the post, you dnt have a single input, but started by crying about Bola and stopped by wailing about Tinubu.
I am sure you have been relieved a little bit now.

Let wait for next post for you to shed another tears.

I am not a fan of Tinubu, but I support this.
The scale of corruption going on in NAFDAC and customs is unprecedented.

Spending millions to transmogrify their image in media will not help them this time.

In NAFDAC corruption is presented in the guise of 'we-are-working-on-it 'bureaucracy', it takes almost a year to have your application for product certification scale through if you won't pay bribes, forcing you to go through their corrupt middlemen..

Yet they come on the media and pretend that they are promoting the Ease-of-doing business, when they are actually working against it..

How do support Ease of doing business by frustrating small scale business owners and producers who just want to make ends meet by taking almost a year to certify them with tight bureaucratic and opaque protocols.

New revenue Agency with new annual allocation, new corrupt officials, new loads of bottlenecks. Tunubu should reform these existing agencies and not creating new woke agency.

I don't why Government will send Bill to the Assembly and the public does not have the full details of the Bill ... I think there should be a public portal where any bill sent to the National Assembly or sponsored by members can be seen and possibly individual citizens should also be allowed to send bills to the National Assembly without going through Government channels. At least I can push for a bill that allows for privately manage and run Correctional Service with five star service, so some people will be comfortable doing time, instead of throwing shield on our institutions.

Associations like freight forwarders, oil marketers Association or whatever they are called always oppose any change in their sectors.

How can an ordinary PRO of Association of Freight Forwarders say '...it is not possible, don't mind the government'.

What a load of cobblers.

Does he know better than the tax reform Committee headed by a renowned tax expert Mr Oyedele who is a former head of PWC or is it Delloite.

I think the freight forwarders are probably angry because government policies have rightly led to a reduction in destructive importation.
Apart from Obasanjo all other renowned this and that from the West have proven not to be any better than an SSCE holder in any field. Mention one that performed upto average in a any Nigerian sector or political office.

Tinubu is planning to turn Nigeria to what Lagos state is today. He want to take control of the revenue of the country. Later he will bring in Alpha Beta to help Nigeria Revenue Service in collecting taxes while 10 to 20 percent will go directly to his pocket. Just wait and see. This is the plan.
what will you do about it other than cry on the Internet smiley

Did you read the Message or why diverting attention to something else- go and file your own answers through the FOIB( Freedom of Information Bill) - to ask and compel govt( federal or State) on the Management of Resources/ Revenue being collected by them in the Law Courts.

This has been Taiwo Oyedele's arguments for years.

All those customs officials are meant to protect boarders and prevent smuggling but what we have is they are in charge of money with pot bellies everywhere.

Very very good move!
You need to see how rich those customs guys are, being a customs officer is far more lucrative than being a soldier or police officer.

For the first time Nigeria has a clear national vision to create a 2 trillion dollar economy.

This is also another great step taken by this administration.

Allowing States to generate and distribute their own electricity is another very practical move by this government.

May God keep the president and let us see the good end of this.

Because it had happened before and it fails. Where you have accountant at the ports collecting revenue while customs are left at the border. Government had to revert to status quo

My people this is why we have to support the Tinubu administration. This probably the only Nigerian in power that can take such a bold move.

But we don't want to hear "Tinubu wants to." What I want to wake up in the morning and hear is that Customs and co no longer collect revenue.

There should indeed be a Federal revenue collector to oversee ALL government revenue collections.

In all honesty, is Lagos not the only working state in Nigeria at the moment? Even Lagos is more efficient in revenue generation than the FG. So what exactly do we want as Nigerians?

what happens to TSA, the revenue service Tinubu is proposing now how is it any better or different from TSA.

Lemme guess, the Same way Tinubu reconfigured the subsidy route to favor himself and his friends he also trying to restructure Nigeria's revenue in a way he and his friends get their cut legitimately. smh

What the essence of a maximized Revenue that will end up looted, Nigerians have nothing to gain from a govt of thieves
Re: Tinubu Plans To Bar Customs, NPA, Others From Revenue Collection by gudugudumeje: 10:23am On Oct 05, 2024
Isn't Tinubu about to smuggle in Alpha Beta lk he succeeded doing in Lagos state?

Nigeria Revenue Service is Unitary system of government inclined..... Soon it would have to delve into collecting resources for the states and LGAs. The naming Nigeria is wrong and should be challenged in court. It should be Federal Revenues Service; simple.
