A group of Nigerian local engineers has recently captured attention by showcasing a helicopter they built using discarded materials such as ceiling fans, rods, and other scrap items. One viewer expressed admiration, saying, "This is great, I initially thought it would lift up a little, but it didn't. If we had visionary leaders, talented persons like this would be invested in. Unfortunately, we don’t; then when foreigners utilize their talents, all the government does is write congratulatory speeches or complain about Nigerians leaving the country."

While some celebrated the ingenuity, others were critical of the project. "They should stop all these. This is the 21st century. If you cannot do it the way the whites are doing it, forget it and stop wasting your precious and productive time," one viewer remarked.

This is fine artistry and shouldn't be mistaken for engineering genius, PLEASE don't be mediocre

The Wright Brothers that invented Aeroplane didn't get it right the first or second time; they tried several times before they got it right.


So kudos to whoever that assembled this. At least he has showed passion, desire and commitment to invent something. Even though it didn't fly, with consistency, persistence, improvements and collaboration with like minds, he will definitely succeed someday if he doesn't give up.


Nigeria desperately need her own locally made indigenous technology products like this, this is one of the reasons I want Nigeria to disintegrate so that my own part Biafra will work tirelessly towards establishing and developing our own indigenous technology products, from guns to bullets to missiles to cars to aeroplanes to powerplants to air defense systems, etc.

This is useless. In this era where countries are implementing state of the art technology. This should be a primary school project and that’s it.

I don’t blame the project owner Infact he tried with the little funds he has but it is shameful to display such as innovation.

What message are we trying to convey here? This sounds mediocre at best. We are in the 21st century, not the medieval times. Are we suggesting that this craftsman, despite their skill, has the potential to be the next Elon Musk, Nikola Tesla, or Thomas Edison?What I see here is strong craftsmanship and nothing more. While good craftsmanship is valuable, without vision and innovation, it won't reach the heights of true greatness.May God help Nigeria foster innovators and not just skilled workers.

They should start with non complex things.
