As much as I don't condone what the lecturer did, I'll have to ask, what the student did, for it to warrant that lecturer to destroy his or her phone.

Thank God I’m no longer a student. All this stupid disrespect which lecturers are known for. At twenty-one, I was still called “boy” because I was in university and treated like a child by both lecturers and security guards. One should not use phone in the class...that is where the issue is.

The thing is, lecturers are graded by how many students pass their courses....no, I am not lying. Too many failures, too many sucesses, questions get asked.

Student dey pay attention to phone...failure waiting to happen. He won't ;listen to lectures, and at the end, when exam comes, the questions will look like they were written in Arabic...meanwhle student who pays attention...

University is preparing you for tomorrow/.....where skills like patience, and paying attention are needed. You cannot do that, and be using your phone.

Lecturer was still wrong though. Should have just seized the phone and then returned it after class. End of.

It depends maybe it was during exams.... As a lecturer I do seize phones during lectures, it's the only way you can stop them from pressing it as well as paying of fines, but d fines now do not face them anymore, it's 50 box or 100 box so they'll pay it...

I do not support dis action though... There are other ways to punish a student

I see foolish responses on this thread that mostly seem to give the impression that the responders have an army at their command. Do they have such powers and armies? Almost certainly not.

At any rate, a far more relevant question is this: If you, as a self described student, are not interested in actually learning anything in a university and instead commit yourself to being a nuisance to both your professors as well as genuine students who pay hard-earned money to learn course material then why bother going to University at all, wasting so much of your fathers money in the process? Use of cellular phones in a classroom is not allowed, period!

What a half-wit you are. I hope you didn't waste time and money attending a university because that would be a big shame.

First of all, the lecturer violated no law. I'm sure that the student who owned that phone had been warned repeatedly and in his stvpidity, probably believing that he had some sort of powers, albeit imaginary ignored these warnings and so the lecturer did exactly what he was supposed to do. Now, if that student really has the power to command an army to effect the retrieval of a replacement phone, we'd sure like to see it happen.
