Everybody is just insinuating that local government will mismanage their funds. Are the governors not mismanaging the state funds. I believe this is pure blackmail to prevent the autonomy from being executed. It is definitely easier to monitor Local government chairmen than monitoring any governor. It will be very easy to know any Local government that is mismanaging their funds and stop them because people within the local government will also be involved.

Local government autonomy is good only if done correctly and citizens have public monitoring systems that hold these local governments to account on spending of public funds and necessary development in the local government.

If not just Imagine all local government stealing and looting money and fighting to capture LG power and treasury. It will be like opening Pandora's box.

Labour Unions in Nigeria are so evil!

Can't fault them. The characters of LGA chairmen can be questionable. The absence of people with pedigree will only make LGAs exposed to ineptitude and mediocrity.
