This Ijaw very rich meal is a mixture of over riped plantain and yam boiled and pounded together with a little salt and the best quality palm oil to blend.

Onunu is best served with a spicy fish pepper soup, yellow soup or native stew.

INGREDIENTS
•Yam
•Ripe plantain
•Palm oil

Method:

Put the yam to boil, when it has cooked right about halfway, add the ripe plantains.

Before you pound ensure that both the yams and the plantains have cooked through till soft.

Start to pound the yam first because of its pulp and stretchy nature, once almost smooth, add the ripe plantain.

Once you have gotten both ingredients to a smooth consistency, add a little salt and palm oil.

The mash is still hot, which will take away the curdling taste of palm oil.

Finish off the pounding, until the palm oil properly mixes well, changing the colour to yellow.

Both my maternal and paternal grandparents lived well into their 90's and hundreds in good health and without all these common illnesses that are rampant today so I know what I am saying. Even my dad is presently in his 90's and he is in top shape for his age. They all went on natural foods and where in unity with their environments.

I totally disagree with you on this. Base on the ingredients used,this meal is natural and healthy for human consumption. Rather, you should tell us to use our so-called "education" to avoid all those processed and packaged foods with chemical additives. Any food prepared with natural ingredients is healthy for the body.
