A Nigerian man has taken to his TikTok account to advise fellow Nigerians moving abroad about certain jobs they should avoid or approach with caution.
Speaking from what appears to be personal experience, he mentioned workplaces like cold rooms and other jobs, explaining why it’s not advisable to take up such roles. Watch the video, share your thoughts in the comments.
Rubbish! undecided

This submission is made in ignorance. Most of the jobs he listed are found right there in Nigeria and Nigerians are working them in that same Nigeria as well. So why would you frown on working the same job abroad, simply because you assume those there don't like to work them? Every job is worth doing. undecided

All these body and soul destructive jobs are where AI comes into into play.

AI can be integrated with industrial machines and robotics to do these jobs so humans can enjoy life.

Few days ago, China built an over 150km roads using 100% machines without human physical intervention. Our world should progress to that phase.

Doing jobs Oyibo refused to do is the means of survival to Nigerians in Europe who don't have special skill.

But one certainty: nearly all the Nigerians who left Nigeria will not return again to finally settle in Nigeria.

How? Nigeria's government is not making living conditions in Nigeria better than when they left.
The Islamic fundamentalists with their sympathizers for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws, are now left to largely decide who rules where in Nigeria at every election. This group can never make Nigeria better for the fleeing Nigerians to return to Nigeria. The northern people migrate southwards to occupy the places left by fleeing Nigerians.
That's formation for a new Nigeria nation.

Hmmm...I have never viewed it this way sha. There's problem o.

EVery job you do, you dress properly for. The same with Cold Room, Dishwashing, etc. If you dey wash dishes, wear water-resistant clothing, good hand gloves, etc., and you will be fine. If working in a cold room, be sure to wear proper cold-resistant clothing, hat, etc. undecided
There is health and safety rules and regulations for each job specification.
They must wear PPE.
These people use naija yardstick to measure all.
Very ignorant fellows.

He is absolutely right. But here is some additional tips when it comes to the cold room.

Many Africans do not like cold but the thing is to be in that cold, you need money to buy good thermal wear.

Another thing is, the temp agency that send people there ,do take some of their money which makes it not encouraging to work.

For example: a direct employment would $21/hr. Agency might collect $4 - $5 and perhaps pay you $17.

I hear they pay people $13,$14,15 .

Buying good thermal wear would help and make you dress well instead of having to dress like a homeless man.

For example: if you wear large size. Buy medium, large and x-large thermal wear

There are equally dishwashing, mortuary, and cold room jobs right there in Nigeria only they are probably not paid even 1/20th of what you would get in Europe or America for the same job. And worse, people working those jobs in Nigeria would likely not be provided or paid enough to afford the gear to help them better do those jobs. undecided

Nobody is acclimatized to cold weather by the way. There are many Americans born in cold climes who retire to temperate or warm climes after many years. It is not a matter of acclimatization but knowing to dress appropriately for the job at all times. undecided

Exactly! You start where you can on the way to where you are going. If you find yourself working the same job even 20 years down the road, it is still OK. I remember there is a place here in the city where I live where I found people who have worked in cold rooms for over 10 years. Some of them are Americans while others are foreigners. If it was such a bad job as claimed by the OP why are there people who have done it for so long and become experts at that? undecided

It's same for too many Nigerians who don't look at the bigger picture of the phenomenon of jappa.
More than ever, too many, if not most, of the keke drivers and doers of menial jobs in the south of Nigeria are people from the sharia states of northern Nigeria. They occupy the space left by Southern Nigerians who fled Nigeria. Unarguably, people from the south make little contribution to who rules where in Nigeria's political process. Who expects the new rulers to make Nigeria comfortable for those Nigerians who left the country to return? If the trend continues for another 10 to 20 years, the RUGA which some Nigerian groups refused must have been effected. It's simple.

Which Nigerian? Usually uneducated, so called graduates won't work in cold rooms unless it's owned by them.

Don't let anyone discourage you at all. If I tell you even my recent experience after having to quit my career due to health problems— fortunately I am almost 100% well at this point—, nothing will make you want to settle for Nigeria no matter what. grin

■ Which Nigerian? Usually uneducated, so called graduates won't work in cold rooms unless it's owned by them.
Do you really think your Nigerian education alone carries tremendous value past your Nigerian border? Even the companies in Nigeria balk at hiring Nigerian graduates but here you are pretending it should be worth more than its actual value. huh

Jobs are usually based on skills you have, not your education. Your education could help but the main ones are the skills you bring to the table. Working cold rooms, warehouses, and dishwashing usually require low-level skills and so are good for those who don't have skills needed for higher jobs. undecided
