As a Nigerian, the most even-playing field you can get on is crypto, but crypto trading and crypto in general requires large capital to earn an ok money except you are going into Degen trading where for every 10 coins, 9 will rugpull.

Now, where will somebody get good capital, like a $1,000?

This is where a good day to day job comes in. Abeg anybody that can link me to a sailor job, please I'll forever be grateful.

I have all my marine documents, discharge book, 4months sea time and I've worked as a Jetty boy for 1year, so I know the rigours of the job, make Una help me, abeg.

Whenever we talk about the situation of Nigeria, some people just bring up the word "japa" as if it is some kind of antidote to solve the problem. Yeah, we should all just run away to greenery pastures and leave our ancestral lands just because we want to live good lives.

And then you're preaching on how good it is to be in distant lands so others can join you over there. So what happens when that place is no longer conducive? What happens when the people there start turning against you after you've imported all your relatives to fight for the scarce resources? You run again to another pleasurable place and continue pursuing pleasure all your life till you die, having lived a meaningless, selfish life that inspires no one.

Sorry to say this but many of Nigerians are so devoid of purpose in life. No ideas, no passion to make change. You just want pleasure, so all you think about is how to run to the nearest paradise. Most of your ancestors were likewise dull, that's why they built their economies on slave trade. It's so shameful that it took the British to forcefully stop the slave trade that they themselves (the British) started centuries earlier. The English people had to enter the open seas to stop it and then made oil palm trade more popular instead. Your ancestors did not want to stop trading humans even when they could do other more lucrative things.

Like you said - many centuries ago, people were forcefully whisked away. Now, you willingly go there to serve as modern slaves, working 3 - 5 jobs daily just to earn money to live well. Like another person rightly said, some even go there without plans and end up stranded and suffer. For God's sake, are our brains wired to be slaves? Are we cursed not to prosper as a race or not to be able to govern ourselves? I don't get it at all.

I talk about what we can do about the deteriorating situation of things in Nigeria, you all kept mute. You heard about japa, and you trooped out, schooling people about how good life is across the seas. Do you not care about your country that's now 64 years old and does not seem to be working?

I don't care where you decide to go to work and make yourself a good life or where you are, but when we talk about the situation of YOUR COUNTRY, bring up ideas that can inspire people to take action and make change. Not just "japa." Wherever you are, be courageous enough to come back to your ancestral land to drive change.

If not you, then who are you waiting for to make Nigeria better? We should all just stop thinking about just running away like cowards.

Regardless, wherever you are, you can drive change in your country. And for you already nursing the idea, take action while you can. If we all contribute our quota, we can see considerable change soon that will make all of you want to come back. Because if e good, una go still troop in massively. Be a part of the solution. Nor dy wait for others to solve the problem make you come enjoy.

If we dy talk about country, chook mouth for the matter abeg. A revolutionary drive can start from anywhere.

I quoted u earlier & stated tribalism was the bane of this nation, u quoted me with greedy leader being the cause, I just didn't want to respond so as not to derail the thread until I saw this. If u read what the crazymommy lady posted u will notice a very salient point where she stated the tribalism she experienced in Nigeria is worst than the racism in UK. Go read her post again. Many of u trivialize the negative consequences of tribalism, forgetting no nation can experience progress with it. The negative effects of tribalism is bigger than corruption, becos it makes people to put square pegs in round holes & makes them protect their own, even when sth is wrong.

A country where people will always vote for their own, even when it is glaring such a person is incapable to rule, so long he comes from their region or village, they decide to vote for him, how do u want such a nation to make progress?? People don't vote the best hands, they vote their own, no matter how bad the person is, so long he is from their region, they will vote him. So what do u want the average Nigerian who has an opportunity to Japa to do in such case? To stay back & start suffering for the wrong decisions made by others on the basis of tribalism??

What personal changes, contributions, or developments have you made during your years of being a Nigerian/living in Nigeria?.

You can't be so committed to Nigeria in words like this without any visible impact/actions from you.

Tribalism might be part of the problem but not the major cause. What of religious and ideological differences? Thing is, multiple things can exist at the same time. Tribalism and religious differences can exist, and the country can still be good for her people. It's possible.

Besides, I think you're overestimating tribalism in Nigeria. It is not as bad as you want to make it look. Yes, many shallow-minded people still think with tribal sentiments but that does not mean the majority is like that. We have been co-existing for centuries even before the North and South were joined together.

I think the problem is greedy and incompetent leaders who do not fear the people they serve. They just feel like nothing will happen no matter what they do. The people have become so docile. You talk about voting, but how sure are you that the publicized election results reflect the will of the people? Even when people from all tribes come up with one voice to vote, a few elements up will still sabotage the process and select their choice.

You all made salient points .. both the pro-japa and anti-japa..
From all indices , japa seems to be the solution to INDIVIDUAL PROBLEMS ..
While solution to this country’s problem is collective actions… all hands must be on desk to work things out for this naija… if all of us japa, how country one take better? Europe and America wey we dey run go, if dem japa and not face their problems , dem no go dey okay today ..

But then not japaing when u have the chance now na big risk o.. if fuel reach 2k per liter and dollar hits 5k per naira, how we go do am?

But but My problem with japa be say, recently I don dey used to soft life , to dey do hard job go hard me and secondly , I no sure say my brain go carry tech again..
Like this I don’t know what to do..
I’m finished grin
Re: Crypto Currency Investors Thread by crazymommy(f):
DieRich5:
I'm not misleading any people, I know what I'm saying and most Nigerians travel to other countries without a plan, family there or with a student visa and the way you see post about Japa everywhere you will think dem have plan

Lol I knew someone who sold his land and other things to travel to Italy, just to end up in living faith church and many are doing it

"Make I reach UK first, I'll know what to do" alot of Nigerians always say this and some people already did it

You have a good job in the UK but do you know how many Nigerians still looking for a job in the UK after spending millions of naira?

If you most travel at least have a backup plan incase and some family members won't even keep you in the house for 3 months without you having a job or bringing something
Well in terms of getting prepared before coming here..that is a valid point and I even mentioned in my previous comment...now back to your comment..

Working as a cleaner is what you call "Good job " huh

And hey anyone who came into UK with the right visa will get at least menial jobs.. it is when they are looking for "Good job" , that is when they will be complaining that there is no job. There is no job do not include menial jobs...for example do you know how many families are looking for those that they will employ to take care of their aged family members??do you know how many mortuary attendant they are looking for ? Do you know how many plumber they are looking for here?? Do you know how many cleaners they are looking for here ??

When someone say there is no job. Ask them "which type of job "..there is job , it depends on your own type of jobs you are looking for..do you even know how many vacancies for security jobs I keeps seeing here everyday?? I have a sister with me here , she came here just few months ago , I have helped her secure more than 30 jobs but she keeps rejecting simply because she wants a banking job because she has msc in banking , guess what she too will tell you there are no jobs ..why ?? Simply because she is not getting the type of jobs that she PERSONALLY want..it is her personal decision.. but if you are ready to do any job you see , trust me jobs full here..na you dey do Shakara...fine girl wey know wan work as a cleaner..why will there be job..and me I decide to bring my shoulders down and I am doing the cleaning job.. when I get to Nigeria I become a big madam unknowingly to them I am a cleaner in UK

Trust me..working as a cleaner is not a good job here but while doing it here , you will get a comfortable life..I work here as a cleaner and I am comfortable.. not because the job is a good job but because there is a good government in place and everything human needs as basic needs is available as long as you earn something...but cleaner is not the definition or standard of a "good job " here

Good job here requires good qualification/skills....working as a cleaner at KFC here do not require any qualification or skills because it is just a menial job...now this is it, if someone doing menial jobs can survive well , what will now happen to those doing good jobs who even earn more than me by far ?? Then they have no excuse to be broke..except if they lived beyond their means and that is common among many Nigerians and Kenyans here , they love show-off too much and during the process they spend more than they earn simply because they want to show off...live within your earnings and you won't complain about UK

And finally when next someone in UK complains to you, ask yourself and ask them , since they are experiencing those things In UK, why do they still continue to stay in the same UK ??

Their answer will expose the real truth...a place is not good yet you refuse to leave there , no jobs in UK yet you are not ready to leave the UK, is it that you enjoy suffering and staying jobless ?

I have a colleague , while me I keep sending money to my family member, she will never send money to her own family member because according to her , nobody gave her money to come to UK , she raised the money by herself.. guess what excuse she do give her family and friends in nigeria whenever they ask her for money, she will say "UK is not easy " yet there is no day she will not eat burger and ice-cream at burger King , the money she spends on burger in a week alone is more than 40pounds..40 pounds in naira is more than 50k..please if you give a family member 50k every week , won't they appreciate you??

How did tinubu become president ? , hey ore , you are talking to a yoruba woman right here !!! Omo yoruba ponbele ni mi...but guess what ?? Many yorubas used tribalism to vote in tinubu , I remember telling some of my family members that they should vote for a certain candidate which I did not want to mention, do you know what their response was on phone?? They said in yoruba " omo igbo bawo "..meaning igbo person in what way...meaning that why should they vote that igbo guy.. but guess what everyone is suffering the consequences, now if they go to the market to buy something. , they won't sell it to them at a cheaper price simply because they are yorubas.

There is no way you can hide it , tribalism is the major problem of this country , the religious part is still connected with tribalism in one way or the other ..

Many Nigerians first of all look at tribalism first before now bringing in religion...scale of preference!!tribalism remains number one..the major problem

I do not have problem with anyone who voted tinubu but where I have problem with most of them is that the only reason why they voted him is because he is "yoruba " nothing else..they do not care whether he will perform or not , all they care about is his Tribe.. and that is irritating..assuming you voted him because you believe he will perform well , I won't feel bad..but voting him only because he is yoruba ?? That is a very daft thing to do..

Last week I sent ordinary 900 pounds to a cousin of mine who wants to do wedding in nigeria ?? Guess what they told me , it is the 900 pounds that they used to do the whole wedding...what I consider as small money here in UK, is what they used for a wedding.that is to show you how the naira have died..

Imagine what a cleaner earns here yearly is enough to build a mansion in nigeria..just imagine

Bro, preach patriotism from today till tomorrow, the major problem with Nigeria is LEADERSHIP. Getting this right will put right policies in place, right institutions, check tribalism, corruption governance et al. Again without the right policies and enforcement, employers are able to milk out employees in the name of casual staffing with no clear direction for career advancement. Individuals control prices at their will, “all” of our police force are following and protecting private citizens abandoning their core duty of enforcing law and order. There’s a lot that I could have highlighted… but I trust you get what I’m saying.

Most importantly, if you’re an active participant in school politics or even as an onlooker, seeing the antics of most students leaders you’ll understand that everyone is just waiting for their time not to only have a bite of the National cake but to carry everything, in essence the future is still kinda blurry.

If you’re not part of the rich getting richer due to bad governance, I’ll advice you shine your own path for now. Be like @Chichaka, the man of many firsts in his family. Have it in mind to return to contribute your own quota to develop the country at the right time.

Many Nigerians first of all look at tribalism first before now bringing in religion...scale of preference!!tribalism remains number one..the major problem
God bless u, u have said it all.
The problem with Nigerians is that we are not even sincere with ourselves! Imagine someone still trying to downplay tribalism, when what we are suffering today is directly as a result of tribalism. Mentioning greedy leaders, who put the greedy leaders there? Is it not the people? Let 2027 come, they will still come out to vote him saying he is their son. We are not serious in this country.

Well said. Leadership is the problem. Not tribalism, not religion. It is leadership. Without a good leader, things never work out. The decay flows from the top to the bottom.

So, Crazymommy, I disagree with you. Tribalism will never go away unfortunately. Saying that is the problem is an insinuation that the country will never work because you can't separate people from their tribes. Of course, people need to be enlightened to think outside the fog of tribal sentiment but you can't fault them because of who they vote for and say that is the problem of the country. Na there their sense reach. People vote for different reasons. The man may have helped some of them in the past, you never can tell. No one cares.

The average Nigerian does not care weda the president na nupe or ogoni. We just want good leaders who are accountable to the people. We have them bad that's why things are this way. Is it tribalism that has made fuel expensive or the anti-people policies of the government? Was it tribalism that devalued the currency? No. It still boils down to the leaders, starting from the president himself.

I think we need to set a pattern for our leaders to keep them in check.

It is a problem, no doubt. But not why we are in this mess.

As it is now, even if another person win election, do you think the leaders you have there will declare the person winner? Forget this talk abeg.

This is not true, Sir... or it is just highly overrated. Nigerians are too wicked to one another abroad. Your brothers will treat you so bad, you will start too fear for your safety.

Some of us still kill each other or lead a life we cannot afford. People will go and collect the most recent Iphones and cars every year, especially that yeye Rangerover cheesy. E fine ooh...
You are buying a house in the USA and building a mansion in Nigeria. If you were in Nigeria, could you have done that?

THEN THEY WILL MOVE TO TORONTO AND START SHOUTING "RENT IS HIGH shocked ". What happen to Alberta or Edmonton?

In abroad, if you work 6 jobs in 24 hours, you will be paid.
Since some of us have never seen such a thing, we are so fascinated that we just get carried away and work like jackky...

I came from the poorest of poor, when I say we were poor. I mean mpoortompoor. ...In fact, how I went to university, I owe the school and they had to let me finish so that I can come back to pay. I owe from year 2 till 2 years after graduation cheesy.

I sit-down think this thing, which kind of pikin I wan born like this. No hope ooo. No work after school. My NYSC Allawee was the hope of the whole family. I decided to travel...

Now, when we went to beg for statement of account for my travel, one uncle asked my mother, have you forgotten your husbands last name, how can you ever be thinking that this child is made to be abroad?

Today, if I work one job they pay if, I work overtime they pay. They beg me to come in, I say "No" they leave me alone.
Since I came, it was this May I went to pick up my new car. Before I gree carry am nko? My village people were appearing in my dreams to yab my car. As tall as I dey na kia forte I been dey fold myself enter. I still use my Iphone 14. I nor dey plan to change am this year or next... maybe after bull run.

I am the first graduate,
I am the first person Abroad.
first to use brand new car.
First to buy house.
First to build house.
I have moved everyone abroad.
If fight start, if it is money related, I give money and matter end, love continues.
I am the first crypto bro - them nor understand this one yet. cheesy

My next goal is to create employment in Nigeria and save lives for free. Free water and Education too.
If I was in Nigeria I will never be here.

My mates are in Nigeria, they are stagnant. They are not happy. They are wasting away. They beg for money. The happiness we shared as kids are no longer there. They complain a lot to you. They do... This for the whole lifetime? Why? Because I want to be in Nigeria, feel at home where I belong?

Who told you you belong to Nigeria, and if you do what has she really done for you? Do not answer if you are sentimental.
Home is what you do and where you make it to be.
I cannot imagine living a lifetime, waiting for Nigeria to get better.
It is not fair to you. If you have a way to leave, you know it is legit and you will not suffer. MOVE!

Now, I am the employee of the month, with all the white people wey dey shine everywhere. Me, from where to where?

In the past, our rulers sold us out for slavery but this time we willingly go there to do the same. Same story different century. Or we cannot rule ourselves right but they cannot care for themselves right.. any way you choose to see it.

Same story different century.
I wish I can like this a million times more.

I think I will start looking up to this now.

You are not entirely wrong. Just that Nigerian media overblow any bad news about people in diaspora to discourage more people from migrating.

Like someone said earlier, migrate legally and you will just be fine. Overwork is a choice and it is what break many people down or expose them to danger. A friend lost his limb in a ghastly motor accident six months ago driving home after working night shifts (as overtime) for straight one month. Personally, my health has improved significantly since I stopped night shift completely.

Migrating legally and understanding gook work and life balance is 🗝️

You still do not get the point, who elects the people In the government ?? Who elected the leaders ?? If they were not elected into leadership, how did they get there ?? Now the big question is , why were they elected into the power ?? Leadership is the tree that grew...now what is the root that created the tree ?? The electoral process is the root..without election , there is no government in a democratic settings...and when tribalism plays a very key role when Nigerians are selecting who to vote for , does that not automatically tell you that tribalism is the major problem here ?? You are focusing on the tree itself which is the leadership..you have forgotten that without the root , there is no development for the tree ..there will be no tree

And who told you an average Nigerian does not care where the president is from ?? And they just want good leaders ?? If what you said is true , then tinubu won't be elected as president by some voters.. so are you saying an average Nigerian believe that tinubu will be accountable to the Nigerian people if elected?? And that is why many of them still voted him??Even tinubu himself will be laughing at this part... grin

Concerning the revolution part and we all going out to speak against bad government...Well I agree with you on this part but other people can go ahead ,it is worth it , but as for me I give up...before travelling I participated in End -sars , I was very active..if i mention my real name here and you participated in the end-sars protest then there is a very high probability that you have seen me before..but I won't mention my real name for security reasons , now during that time before 7.05pm on my phone when the army started shooting , I observed some men around that oriental hotel that were on phone for several minutes , these set of men were with us at the stage that was set at the toll gate , then all of a sudden I saw these four men going towards oriental hotel and they stood there like they were hiding from something and they were on call , I told the lady beside me , I think these four guys who are acting like protesters are not protesters , they are insiders working for the government or whatsoever , one of them saw me staring at him with one look that shows that I was suspecting him , immediately he whispered to one man beside him and before I know what was happening they moved in their cars with High speed. , at that point I knew something was about to happen few minutes later , the army fired gunshots..then later we realized that some people among us who claim to be protesting are just Nigerians like you and I who acted like an informatant to the army/government etc..in other words , while you are trying to fight for the masses, ask yourself, are the masses themselves ready to get the freedom ?? do they want to be freed ?? Look at verydarkman , the people he is fighting for are still the same people attacking him..smh

Well said.

Anytime we try to talk about tribalism in Nigeria and we decided to directly or indirectly look in a particular direction, or try to blame a particular group or tribe , I always see the conversation as a waste of time.

ALL Nigerian politicians use religion and ethnicism/tribalism as tools when it favours them and most core followers are usually motivated by either or both.

Until we understand that it's a general problem and take meaningful step to address it, we will never get anything out of the numerous complaints. That is why superpack comment make more sense to me.

You mean 900 pounds ordinary? God! I dey leave this country
