have to give kudos to the libyans for a well crafted scheme which almost paid off, they stuck to their game plan and executed it well till the goal came. this should be a lesson for AE and the team as a whole |

Subzerooo:Solace Chukwu expanded more on this point, the Libyans had a soft center that we completely ignored to cross repeatedly from the flank, if we had incisive passing through the middle we would have scored 2 or more

Subzerooo:A right footer still dey try small small. Left footers are worst. They don't want to use that leg at all. One day i was watching UCL, pre match workout camera showed Arjen Robben doing throw and jab. The trainer throws and he jab with left very easy and sweet. The moment the guy throw to his right, he bundles the ball away. In that Chukwueze scenario Lukaku would have blasted that ball and scored at the near post. Van persie would not need to turn to the left. |

Subzerooo:Tactically, Onyeka was sound in that game, drifting from the midfield to the right flank to support Aina and Lookman/Simon. Unfortunately, his final balls were awful. With someone like Onyedika who has very good passing ability doing that, we would have gotten better crosses to the box. |

TheGoodJoe:I think you are confusing a defensive team with a team on low block, a defensive team doesn’t put 10 men behind the ball but a low block does. So this your theory of playing plenty shots may not hold, IMO the best way to break a low block is what we eventually did to succeed, get a pacy dribbler to run at them, they’ll panic and either cause PK or you start getting plenty corners |

TheGoodJoe:once again i will still ask, were the opponents of Mancity and spain playing immobile packed defense?. Omo bros the only time those guys came out when it was 0-0 was when one of their striker had a break-free run and tried to dive for a penalty against us…those guys did not come to play anything in Nigeria…10players inside and around the box 18, you will play shot so tay you sef go tire…Spain Vs France saw two giants facing off with both having this mentality to win thereby playing a balanced game… There is one thing to play for a draw by defending and still trying to come out on different occasions to counter hoping for a win. That was not the case of Libya…those guys did not come to play anything, other than to just “die” for 5mins and kill time after a finger push by any eagles player and resurrect another mins to pack their defense with 10man contained inside box 18…na thise kind teams barca of old dey use tikitaka and splitting passes to destroy their defense |

jihday:asin eeehnn this is just ittt🔥🔥…an ultra-defensive team doesn’t need those shot narratives OGA!! get a pacy winger/dribblers and also a tricky midfielder that can split you in nano seconds with mad passes..its either they hack a player down in box18 or clash on each other for an owngoal… Those kinda stubborn defense needs; 1.Moses simon energetic+skillful run 2. Chukwueze tricky runs that can create space for banana curve/R-2 kinda goals 3. Ejuke’s foolery on a one on one with defender These guys has to be consistent and not giving up, cos las las them go chop one or two defenders. Finally an ever ready striker to pounce on the effort of these wingers |

Odunayaw:You see that white skin, until some people see it, they won't rest. White man is the god of the black man. I support foreign coaches only on the ground that our players respect them more and they bring some discipline and objectivity to team selection. Not that they are more tactically brilliant or more competent than our local coaches in terms of football knowledge or coaching abilities. At least some of us have been around for a while. There is nothing magical any foreign coach has done, that our own coaches have not done. Westerhof won AFCON, Keshi did it Westerhof qualified us for WC, Keshi did it, Amodu did it too. Westerhof took us to second round at a world cup, Keshi did it. Bonfrere won Olympics, our age grade coaches have serially won several u-17 championships, (in fact, we hold the global record of winning more u17s, all with local coaches) we have also won bronze and silver at the Olympics and at U-20s Rohr won bronze, Eguavoen won bronze (twice). Abeg the records show that there's nothing magical about white coaches. If we do not have confidence in our coaches, it is not due to lack of competence on the part of our coaches. It is 90% due to the fact that the white man is the god of the Blackman and just as man is comfortable in the presence of his God, that is how many of us will only be comfortable when we see that white skin who is our god standing as the Super Eagles coach |

minfelix:you are very correct, even Mancity against Arsenal, it was when Grealish came in and started running at the deference that Mancity started looking dangerous and they eventually got their goal from a corner kick caused by his dangerous run. |

minfelix:It seems you are not watching the videos. The point is that the opposition can be camped in the box. Shoot a curling shot over them repeatedly. So telling me that the opposition was camped does not change the point.

Subzerooo:At the end of the day it's about effectiveness. If Chuks is effective with his left leg, nobody will mention what he does with his right leg. People generally didn't say such things about Amunike because he was lethal with his left leg. |

minfelix:The tiki taka can disorganize the teams but the best way to finally break the wall is by being a threat from the front of the wall and not running through it. I am a Manchester City and Guardiola fan. How do you think Kompany dropped points for Bayern Munich in his last three games? Low block. Even Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey when Mourinho used a low block with 5 central defenders. |

Mujtahida:I think back in the day because our local coaches were not ex players who had experience of playing in Europe the foreign coaches would look like a mini god but from the moment we started having coaches like keshi, oliseh, siasia, AE etc. that gap is closing up cos these are ex players that were even playing mates of some foreign coaches we will want to consider today. |

minfelix:My idea is simple. Have inverted wing-fielders and they do more of crosses to the corners of the post. That to me is the best way to play a low block. It does not stop Tiki taka but gives a final phase to it. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Subzerooo: 1:02pm On Oct 12, 2024 |
Starboytwo:Again bias, if the ball has fell to the left feet of Lookman or Iwobi you would have no problem with them shifting it to the right to shoot, there are right footed players that are good with their left but overall left footed players use their right foot more than right footed players use their left due to more pressure |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Mujtahida: 1:07pm On Oct 12, 2024 |
TheGoodJoe:Low block is actually the medicine to tiki taka because in tiki taka, what you are advocating for invariably rarely happens as it is not part of the tactics. But I agree with you that we should be shooting from outside the box. Iwobi scored a sweet goal like this against Sierra Leone |

jihday:The bolded does not add up. I am talking of how to beat a low block. That is when the team is camped deep defending. I am a City fan and I watch it week in week out. We have Grealish, Savinho, Doku, Bernardo Silva and sometimes Foden. I have watched tricky players run at Low blocks repeatedly. I watched The last two games of Bayern and even the Leverkusen game was against a low block. I am not saying running at them does not work but I am about the best approach to break it. Long range curlers is where the space lies. If we go with time - space theory, you will see that running at the wall is not the best approach. How do you best beat the set up below? The space in front of them is where players can get more time and space on the ball.

Mujtahida:Cut backs is a big part of Tiki taka. Where you get the ball wide and then return it to the free-8 zone to turn explore the half-space. What I am saying is when returning the ball to the free-8 zone, curling shots should be part of the options. |

TheGoodJoe:I definitely agree with you as per your last paragraph. Once a team discovers that it cannot break through the low block by passing through it, shooting from outside is a good option. If it doesn't result into a goal, we can at least get a rebound, a handball, a free kick or corner if the ball is not properly cleared. |

Victor Osimhen encouraging Victor Boniface. Victor Osimhen knows how to fight for his teammates always, I remember after AFCON when people wan finish Iwobi, he supported Iwobi too and got all the other Super Eagles players to do same. Future captain.

TheGoodJoe:most low blocks put 10 men behind the ball with no plan to score, they just want to kick the ball away unlike a defensive team that will put at least two men in a position where they can quickly counter if the ball falls to them. Shots and curlers from outside are quite tough when you have 10 players inside the box willing to throw themselves at the ball, in most cases players will end up playing the ball too high because they always have to rush their actions. |
