Would you guys be comfortable with Eguavoen leading the team in the world cup qualifiers next year, and why? give your honest reasons I personally would prefer Eguavoen leading the team. He's not perfect but he seems to command the love, respect and confidence of this team- and more often than not those are the components you need as a coach to be successful...Eguavoen has always been a decent coach with so far the best winning ratio among the list of coaches who have managed us so far based on stats (and I stand to be corrected), his only nemesis has been in knockout phases of major tournaments,he just seems to have that unlucky mojo of never getting far in tournaments. Right now except we get a genius foreign coach in the mould of a Pep Guardiola, then I can't trust the odds of this team under any random journeyman oyinbo coach in squeezing us through our current world cup group wahala...I get the feeling that even the popular Herve Renard saw and analyzed our precarious world cup situation when contacted and then chickened out, none of the European coaches seemed to want the coaching job. Eguavoen is the best shot we have at the moment, and every support has to be given to him from the fans and the NFF for him to succeed. |

Hotepking:I'm not 100% on Eguavoen but he has his good qualities 1) he is not afraid of substitutions and he uses a lot of subs ( I think he has used 3+ subs for all the matches he coached) 2) He makes in match tweaks to affect the state of the game (switching Lookman and Moses wings for more creativity) 3) He is not afraid of experimenting (He has played 3 at the back, 4 at the back, Lookman as an inside forward, Lookman as a winger, Lookman and Boniface as double strikers late against Libya) 4. He is MILES better than Finidi |

Mujtahida:I did not mention Ejuke, you brought him into the conversation. I am not the only one who reckons Ejuke's technique to be above average. A lot of independent analysts are professing it. Football technique is not all about dribbling, as dribbling is not the only skill in football. We don't currently have a winger who is better at passing the ball compared to Ejuke, that is why he is labelled very technical. Our wingers are not that excellent at the game of passes, especially when it comes to using long balls to switch plays. |

Meliforme:So clear? You are the only one I have read who said Eguavoen played 4-2-3-1. At the bolded, you watch and over analyze to the point of outlandishness. Iwobi played close to Lookman not Boniface as you claim and that somewhat limited Lookman. "Eguavoen was poor". Oho, to talk for mouth is easy. You have not coached even primary school children but in your mind you are one analytical genius. Go on, go on |

jihday:In between he should try and score. I read a comment attributed to Eguavon to the effect that Boniface plays like Romario. He wants to romance the ball. I see him wanting to do something spectacular with the ball. No Bro, score first even if na through gidigbo or scramble. When you get in your stride, you can go for the spectacular. |

If we're going to go with AE then it should be on a long term not these short term rescue missions we keep giving him. I also agree that he should continue with the WC. He has the trust of the players, he's emotionally intelligent, plus his selections are fairly ok with not too many eyebrow raising invitations. For me he still has tactical weaknesses which refresher courses and sound technical assistant coaches can help reduce I believe. We're already in a dicey situation as far as the WC qualifiers are concerned so it's unlikely any glory seeking foreign coach will touch us with a ten foot badge pool. The NFF should also be strategic to pick assistant coaches who have the potential to be future SE Managers. Hotepking: |

Meliforme:I think you like being contrarian perhaps because it makes you feel intelligent. Not necessarily from this post but there's a clear pattern where as people dey go right, you dey go left, as dem dey say black, you dey say white. I like dissident thinkers oo but this your own get as e be. |

Hotepking:If Eguaveon does the unthinkable and qualifies us for the world cup, you will see he would be shoved aside and a foreign coach appointed. I am totally in agreement with your second paragraph |

[quote author=Meliforme post=132396908]In my assessment of the game, Ademola Lookman was our best player yesterday and not Moses Simon. Lookman did more both offensively and defensively.[/quo He should lead the attack against Libya away. I no understand Bonifacey |
