My experience getting my Nigerian passport DIY for my daughter. I paid for the passport online 21st July . I picked 29th july 2024 as the capture date. Honestly everything was seamless. I didn’t take more than 50mins she had been captured. Now I kept monitoring online or expecting a call but I didn’t. I gave it 6 weeks because I didn’t want to go and they tell me it’s not ready. I reached out to friends I saw on that same day and they told me theirs was ready 2 weeks after and it was DIY. I checked online and it still showed passport production in process. I decided to go there myself and lo and behold the passport had been produced and ready for pick up since 13th of august. I’d advise everyone to first do it yourself , then after 2-3 weeks go there yourself to check cause chances are that it is ready.

I called a friend closer to passport office, nd d person said no matter how much I paid online for passport, I will still pay almost the same amount for administrative charges whenever I visit passport office.

Pls is there anything like administrative charges at the passport office? Like how much?

(2) No, Nigeria Immigration Service did not authorize administrative charge(s). Report the unauthorized charge(s) to the headquarters of Nigeria Immigration Service.

(3) No, there is nothing as administrative charge(s).

Did you pay the application fee at one of the participating banks or you paid through a debit card? If you paid the application fee at one of the participating banks, this is the process you should have followed below:

View the list of participating banks and then click on ‘Continue’.The "Print Acknowledgment" button will help you print "Payment Acknowledgment Slip" with Transaction ID, Application Number and Reference Number. With the copy of your Payment Acknowledgement Slip, proceed to a participating bank for payment. On making payment at the bank, you MUST be issued with an 'approved payment platform provider' receipt that contains a "Validation Number".

Do you really need an application letter? I renewed my passport online last month and did not submit such letter.

I had a similar issue , in my case i had to re-upload a clearer version of the document in question.

There should be a helpline number in the mail sent to you, call that number .

I have done everything online including payment nd the status is showing vetted. What other statutory payment am to pay?

If am not willing to pay their administrative charges should incase it's on the high side or I find it to be a kind of extortion, what are the likely steps I can take to report them to the appropriate authority.

Guy, don't pay anything. Maintain your stand. If you need to show them some level of madness, pls do.
They asked me to pay 15k as administrative fees and I told them I won't pay because it was not stated on their website.
The guy insisted that it is not all information they put on their website, but I refused.

If they insist, make them believe that you're recording them, especially if they have their name tag
