the cowry card shouldn't be made compulsory like one guy told me cash transfers and cash should also be valid as a method of payment

Lagos leads, others follows
How I wish kano, Kaduna, and rivers can replicate this. Our country would have been better I swear.
Rivers was the first to start it under Chibuike Amaechi, but Wike used bad politics to kill the project.

Don't be an ignorant. Why would you take a trip on train from Oshodi to Mushin? Train doesn't operate bus stop to bus stop. It for a long distance journey.
People and oversabi, this is a mass transit not a long distance train.
That's why each station have their boarding time and stop time, It's like a larger BRT on Rail.
You can the train from Ikeja and stop at Oshodi, they all have their prices. Zone A, Zone B and Zone C

We no wan turn am to molue filled with agberos and market women like you.

Strictly for working class and elite students.
What's wrong with being a market woman or trader? This thinking is faulty, uncivilized and one of the reasons for our underdevelopment as a country. There is dignity in labour.

Paying cash would make it easy/prone to embezzle cash made. Things would be chaotic too. There would be series of delays in getting change, arguing on conditions of change given etc. Stations can, as well, be robbed and cash stolen.
The risks of using cash or transfer are many.
You can imagine people using fake transfer. Who would even be checking wether a transfer done has ‘entered’? This is not an Aboki shop where you buy Indomie. It’s a train station for that matter and a fairly modern.

Using cash for payment was part of what killed our old railways business in the early 80s.

It’s the same thing that killed all our toll-gates on our highways because cash collected were not fully declared or remitted.

This card reduces chances of revenue leakage at source of collection.

Its utilization may then be another challenge.

This is the only way of addressing fraud and ensuring that proper maintenance and repairs on infrastructure is sustained. You should see the monumental fraud going on at the NRC.

The Cowry card has an app also. It currently has only the blue line rail terminals for booking the train tickets for trips in addition to using it for BRT bus trips.

I hope they update it very soon to have the red line terminals so one can make payments for trips on it too.

This is still bus fare but a better deal for those going to Oyingbo
It’s not expected to be cheaper than bus fare..in fact it should be more expensive but timely..
