southgate was nice and quite accomplished with them actually. Two back to back euros final but they need a better tactician and proven winner. Maybe this one will finally work and they will atleast win their first trophy since the 1966 world cup. Their only trophy too. Too poor for such a country.

Wow. Now I am going to start watching England regularly. Very marvelous appointment and I hope Lee Carlsley gets to work in his coaching crew.

Something still bothers me regarding this Libya issue and I think the country deserves answers. The NFF needs to organize a question and answer segment with the media to clarify some issues.

As much as we are blaming Libya for being the brain box of the issue, we need to clean up our end too.

My posts are not meant to condone the actions of the Libyans. What they did as far as I am concerned is the reckless endangerment of National assets. There is no room for pardon and I hope they are cracked down for it. I hope they are made an example to end this recklessness once and for all.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m):
The NFF president needs to fill us in on the experience level of the protocol team.

The NFF has told us the wrong actions done by the Libyans but are yet to fill us in on the contingency actions they took to remedy it.

As soon as the Libyans touched down at Port Harcourt, they became the responsibility of Nigeria. Including their transportation and security.

Yes we are told that we sent two trooper vans to guide their bus but why did we not provide buses for them?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m):
As soon as the NFF got communication that they were landing in Port Harcourt, why was there no alternative plan to receive them.

Yes, we had a wonderful package for them at UYO but why not reach out to the Rivers State Ministry of Sports to receive and clear them?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:45pm On Oct 15, 2024
I don't buy the story that we offered them buses and they rejected. Then they ended up hiring a faulty bus.

This led to their bus breaking down on the road. And the players being off communication for a while.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m):
Now the NFF is telling us that they advised the Libyans to charter another flight and they refused, maybe due to cost implications.

Nice one NFF. So, they did not have the money for such a cost. How come we were not in the position of getting the funds for the charter?

Keep in mind we had a lot of interest in this matter. The NFF, Akwa Ibom State Government and Rivers State Government.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:50pm On Oct 15, 2024
If anything had happened to the Libyan national team on the road, we would not be speaking all this English and peddling excuses.

The NFF needs to provide answers. What were the contingency steps taken to receive and safely convey the Libyan National team to the hosting City of the match?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m):
Let us for a second imagine if this had happened to our players due to the negligence of the NFF, are we saying we won't expect the Libyans to bail us out?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:57pm On Oct 15, 2024
We need details of the NFF protocol and logistics team.

We need an official and public report from them on this issue.

We need to know why there was no arrangement to receive and clear the Libyan footballers.

We need to know why we could not support to fly them to Uyo.

We need to know what really happened that the Libyans ended up making the charter for the bus that took them to Uyo. A bus that was not solid and the AC not working properly.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:58pm On Oct 15, 2024
I still totally condemn the reckless action of the Libyan government. If they had any issue they should have addressed it with diplomatic measures rather than resorting to endangerment of our national assets.

why should the nff spend money for them to come to uyo when they decided to land in port Harcourt? This is not their first time playing a match in uyo. They still came to uyo during rohr's time so why did they change the normal expected arrival procedure? Bear in mind they came on a private plane so whose fault was it that they didn't come to uyo based on plan. The nff should not be expected to cover for their mistakes and since when has it been the responsibility of the home nation to pay and arrange flight arrangements for visiting countries? Is that the normal procedure in international football?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 10:27pm On Oct 15, 2024
TheGoodJoe, when has any host FA in Africa paid for our plane ticket into their country or for any charter flight intracountry, for a competitive fixture?

Surely you don't expect the NFF to cover plane costs for the Libyans?? Do you?? It is ridiculous.

You are just regurgitating what we already know.

The point is that the Libyans were stranded at UYO. What contingency plans were made by the NFF to salvage the situation?

This is not about coming into the country but conveying them in our country to the venue. They were stranded at Port Harcourt. We need proper briefing because that action ended up putting the lives of our national assets at risk.

The Libyans went cheap. They refused the charter flight idea citing cost. Not that they don't have the money, but it is that they don't wanna spend it. So they are quite mad for that.

On the bus choice, they clearly sabotaged themselves and are now turning to play victim. You surely don't believe the NFF also didn't try to offer them buses now, do you? Are you new to the erratic behavior of these North Africans and how aloof they act towards blacks?

They should have landed in Kano so NFF can fly them to Uyo. You're always very funny. shocked

And about conveying them in our country to the venue. Abeg, when we land in another country's land and it is in another City maybe, is it not on us to cater for our own flight plan into the actual host city? The host FA will only provide a travel guide protocols so we don't miss our way and we must follow it or we end up getting stranded.

Now the Libyans didn't adhere to ours and didn't even communicate at the time they were coming. They alerted us on super short notice 1hr after they were airborne and that was 3hrs before they touched down in PH. Such ridiculous short notice.

The Libyans hid their travel plans from the NFF. Refused to fly to Uyo directly but chose PH as a way of "tactically trying to confuse the opposing FA" but it backfired.

So my point is, what were the active steps taking by NFF to remedy the situation?

Ask the goodjoe, how many hours drive is Uyo to PH.
3 hrs delay isn't too much to reroute logistics from Uyo to PH.

I don't buy that narrative from the NFF. Hide travel plans as in how? They know Nigeria more than us?

So what about receiving them? So they could not communicate with the Rivers State Ministry of Sports to help on such Super short notice?

The story is not complete and needs clarification.
