TheGoodJoe:You’re behaving as if you don’t know North African teams someone earlier just told you how the Tunisians too came with even their pillows as if we don’t have pillows in Nigeria. Those folks have the antecedents of treating us with disdain whether home or away. Blaming the nff for the way foreign countries take us for granted is deeply unfair. |

Hotepking:They are all the same don’t be deceived. The Egyptians will play our local clubs deep in the night cos they know our local players won’t cope well with cold weather. |

JohnBullMySon:I disagree that Nigeria did something similar to Libya. Uyo was approved by CAF as venue for our AFCON qualifiers and it had been known months ahead that the match was going to be played there. If the Libyan Football Federation chartered a plane to bring their team to Port Harcourt knowing fully well that the match was to be played in Uyo, it's on them. Its that simple in my opinion. In the botched return leg, the NFF chartered a plane that was heading directly to Benghazi the city where the match was to hold but the Libyan authorities diverted our plane (when it was already in Benghazi and about to descend) to a different location. The cases are not similar. Libya landed in Port Harcourt by their own doing and choice. Nigeria was (deliberately and maliciously) diverted. The Libyan FF have admitted this in their Press release. Libya's chartered plane landed in its original planned destination of Port Harcourt. Nigeria's chartered plane was diverted from its original planned destination of Benghazi to somewhere else. For me, that's the koko and all that matters. The action taken by Libya to land in Port Harcourt was premeditated so it could be used as an excuse to subject the Nigerian team to the "reciprocal" maltreatment they meted out. Libya did this knowing fully well that they couldn't beat Nigeria fairly on the field of play. They were probably hoping that our team would be too distressed & fatigued to play well so it'd be easier for them to win or they walk over us if we don't make it to the match and get awarded 3 points and 3 goals. It was a good plan but in all their scheming, the Libyan FF made a costly error that caused everything to boomerang, and that was not blocking communication channels and internet access cos Nigeria effectively used her social media might to launch an info-war that subsumed them. After all said and done, Libya's plan backfired on them spectacularly. |

TheGoodJoe:Oga Joe, we know your reputation for enjoying arguments on this thread is legendary, but you're starting to sound ridiculous.. in fact, i just started reading through your arguments and I was beginning to suspect if you aren't Kudjo, the Ghanaian guy in the Liverpool group where we discussed the issue who sounded just like you How exactly is the NFF to blame here? Hardly anyone in this thread will disagree that the NFF is an incompetent body that needs overhaul, but in matters like this, we can all easily absolve them of any blame... Why should the NFF be responsible for covering the cost of chartering a flight from PH to Uyo after the Libyans changed their travelling arrangements? You said they should have reached out to the Akwa Ibom and Rivers State government for help . Just like that? You think funds will be released to them just like that? Anybody that follows African football will know that these kind of things are common with North African teams... They are well known for rejecting hospitality from their host countries, especially Sub-Saharan African teams..eazyjakes already gave an explanation of it... The NFF have their faults, but this isn't one of it... If CAF is a serious organisation, they would find a way to put a stop to the antics of these North Africans... |

Ihenzy:You can make your point without being condescending. I said that the NFF story is not convincing. In the interview, the man said they requested for buses. Later he said they rejected buses. That does not add up. My belief is that it was not an outright reject but they could not pay the amount required for the charter of the bus. That is why I said this issue needs further clarification. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 8:03am On Oct 16, 2024 |
TheGoodJoe:Only the FG could have bailed the Libyans out in that situation just like they did for the Eagles in Libya. And if think nff can just command FG like that then na you sabi. No state govt can intervene in an aviation issue that’s the purview of the FG. No state govt can just be sending buses to go bail foreigners in another state or within their state without clearance from even the govt of that country through their embassy in Nigeria. There are security implications to that and I have worked in an organisation where to go pick up some foreigners when their vehicles broke down we had to clear from their embassy in Nigeria. I insist blaming the nff for this is an overkill |

Danielnino00:That is why I said the NFF protocol team needs to clarify further. We needed to provide logistics support because from the look of things, the Libyans might have been limited in funds. The point is simple, which the NFF did not make it clear at first. They made it look as if the Libyans rejected to fly to Uyo. Now we are knowing they did not get clearance for Uyo. Why reach out for support? It was an emergency and the National team of Libya was stranded in Port Harcourt. We could assist someway. They requested for buses. What happened? What were the action to ensure smooth arrival? I hope the Protocol team of the NFF furnishes us further with more details. Finito. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:09am On Oct 16, 2024 |
Goke7: I repeat. The NFF needs to furnish us further with the steps they took. I am talking of Sports ministries of States due to time but now the story has even changed from 1hr to 3hrs. So what did the NFF protocol team do to prevent such embarrassment. We are looking bad due to this. What did steps did they take to mitigate the crisis? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 8:18am On Oct 16, 2024 |
TheGoodJoe:So you should have waited more for the nff then but you’ve gone ahead to say they are lying without getting all the info you say you want. But if you keep insisting that nff or states sports ministries or state govt should have paid for their charter services and aviation fees then you have no point there cos that’s not their responsibility. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:21am On Oct 16, 2024 |
Goke7:Then you missed the context. The context is that we need further clarification. I am showing steps that could have been taking to mitigate the crisis. But, I have repeatedly insisted that the NFF must furnish us with more details of the steps they took when they found out the Libyans were to get stranded in Port Harcourt. We need to know the preliminary plans put in place for smooth arrival and also progressive plans made with issues arising. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:24am On Oct 16, 2024 |
Goke7:Reach out. When there was a crisis, what did they do? The Ministries of States were options. I even pointed out, at least reception. A delegate to go to Port Harcourt airport and receive them. Ah ah, small respect. It is a National team and a pride of their country. The Sports Commissioner or Perm sec could put together a small delegation to go there. Small courtesy now. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 8:28am On Oct 16, 2024 |
TheGoodJoe:Now this is funny, in just 3 hours? so your problem now is to go to airport and give them respect and no longer charter flights or buses, issorite. Nothing the nff will explain that will satisy you cos your mind is made up from what I see. |

TheGoodJoe:What if the sports commissioners and permanent secretary were occupied with something else at that time? Who should they have sent? The governor? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Danielnino00(m): 8:35am On Oct 16, 2024 |
Goke7:You know even if T-pain himself had gone down to Port Harcourt to receive them, it won't change anything...the Libyans most likely already had the intention of treating us badly in their own country, but they needed to find a justification for it first... I'm shocked that Thegoodjoe is missing that angle. I mean when has there ever been a time when any Nigerian team went to North Africa for a game without experiencing one problem or the other upon arrival? It happens every single time...if they can't frustrate you upon arrival, they will do so on their pitch with their fans pointing laser tags at opposing players, their players wasting time and bullying the referees... It's their culture... |

TheGoodJoe:this issue is quite straightforward actually. you are the one looking for loophole to pin something on the nff. |

Danielnino00: I didn't say the action would have happened? I am more interested in the steps the NFF protocol team took to mitigate the crisis. |

Goke7:My point have not changed. I am addressing the problems raised by the Libyans. They clearly stated they were treated with disrespect and one of such was no one received them. The NFF protocol team needs to show they took steps to receive them. These are the things that will arm the foreign affairs ministry in their diplomatic interactions. |

Swedish club confirm big clubs want to sign Vince Osuji Swedish club Kalmar FF have confirmed that several top clubs across Europe are interested in signing young defender Vince Osuji. Kalmar sports director Jorgen Petersson confirmed the interests. “The interest is great and I can confirm that it is about big clubs,” he told FotbollDirekt. The majority of interested parties have already heard about the centre-back, according to FotbollDirekt. The foreign clubs in question are said to be open to paying sums corresponding to between Two and Three Million Euros. At the end of July, Sky Sport Italia‘s transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the majority of foreign clubs are following Osuji. Fotbolldirekt now reports that half a dozen foreign clubs are showing interest – and that Osuji has been scouted for some time. Osuji, 18, has a contract with Kalmar until 2028.
