Igbo Leader Insists On Evacuation Of Corpses From Mortuaries by adenigga(op): 9:12am On Oct 16, 2024
The spiritual leader of Igbo land, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has insisted that the only way to restore peace, security and prosperity back to the entire Igbo land is to start evacuating all the corpses deposited in the morgues and start burying them immediately.

Ezeonwuka lamented that Igbo were fond of stockpiling corpses in the morgue, a development he said should be discouraged.

He stated this in an interview with journalists in Onitsha, on Monday, adding that the immediate burial of the corpses would save the spirits of the dead from wandering about and allow them rest in peace.

He averred that the spirits of the dead in the morgues afflicts the hearts of the youths of the region, forcing them to fight one another and at the same time causing insecurirty and taking to heinous crimes against God and humanity.

Ezeonwuka, a member of Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance AND proprietor of Rojenny Games Village, maintained that a dead body has no place in the land of the living.

He said, “It is as simple as that. What is the point in storing dead bodies, if not to pollute the environment and spread unimaginable diseases in the atmosphere?

“Before 1983, conservancy service contractors were in the job of collecting human faeces and waste products to dispose of them. At that time, faeces and urine were collected together in the same bucket, leading to odour and pollution-related issues.

“This practice continued until God sent the Muhammad Buhari and Tunde Idiagbon military administration to save the country from such evil environmental pollution, which was introduced to us by the colonial intruders.

“However, upon the termination of that practice, our people embarked on a deadlier and soul-destroying exercise of polluting the environment with corpses all in the name of ‘preserving’ them until when the family is ready for a funeral.

This is not the best of times to die, funeral home operators say as bodies pile up in mortuaries
“One therefore, wonders what would have become of this country if the Buhari and Idiagbon administration had not abolish the bucket system of human waste evacuation; probably it would still be in practice today because nobody would see anything wrong in it. A lot of people who criticised Buhari’s administration then did not have knowledge of the miracle he performed for the country when it comes to environmental sanitation.

“Today, even the government would not dare to abolish the practice of stockpiling dead bodies in mortuaries because Christians who are blinded by religion will attack such policy. A dead body is many times more poisonous than human faeces, but religion and lack of spirituality have made even learned people behave foolishly.”

Ezeonwuka averred that many disembodied spirits are moving around and possessing the youths “because their corpses are still lying helplessly in mortuaries scattered all over the country.”

He noted that the situation informed the Igbo adage that “na mmadu na akpaghari ka ozu akwaghi akwa” (people roam around like a corpse when a funeral is not performed).

He declared that there are spiritual consequences that come from stockpiling corpses without quick burials.

He enthused, “Church leaders, traditional rulers and even political leaders must look into the situation and close down mortuaries in the country accordingly.

“If we truly desire sustainable peace and development in Igbo land and the country at large, all the deads must be laid six feet down to mother earth upon their demise and then a funeral ceremony can come later; otherwise, we shall continue to fight a lost battle.

“Christians failed the law in the Book of Numbers Chapter 19: 11-23 which warned the livings not to mingle with corpses. Even the angels in Psalm 91:11, who God commanded to guard us deserted because they do not dwell anywhere littered with corpses.

“Let me say here that what Igbos are doing with corpses angers the Aimighty God and the angels too. The negative consequences of what come out of unburied corpses are so numerous, including youth restiveness, youth drug addiction, voodoo native doctors, zombies, armed robbery, kidnappings, fake pastors and fake churches, idleness, cultism, sickness and even death.”

🤔 .. he may be right though.

I'm from Ondo state. We share similar opinion in my native town. We normally do the burial of late people as soon as possible. Final ceremonies can come up later.

And BTW, looking at it from the spiritual point of view, there's always a consequence for keeping corpses too long away from proper burial. It doesn't even sound logical in any way.

Deluded elders.

Biafra agitation has brought nothing but death in igbo land. Those that are championing it are In develop countries fighting for it in comfort.

The elders should stop shifting post. Address the fact that those abroad are championing an affair with illiterates home.

They turn the whole thing to employment. This is the problem

Burial is very expensive in the east. Its like festival everyone want to cut your neck. Tradition of burial and marriage rites should first be reviewed in igbo land

Rules should be made. A body corpse that spends more than 3 months max in the morgue gets cremated.

The dead in Southern Nigeria and most African tribes don't rest in peace. They regroup, form an association of ancestors and start demanding kola nuts, drinks (spirit), palm wine and animal parts for sacrifices as atonement for an offence committed by the living

This is one of the reasons I respect Chief Ezeonwuka . He speaks his mind and does not care whose ox is gored.

May God bless Nigeria for ever!
