Countries are generating in Gigawatts why Nigeria a country with over 200million people are still battling with Megawatts.

I understand megawatts can be converted into kilowatts and also gigawatts, but base on what they posted we need around 88gw to achieved a 24/7 electricity but writing it as megawatts we look like something that's not achievable. Where as it is something we can fully achieve without breaking a sweat.

As of 2022 we have the capacity to generate 22gw but till now we are still battling with 4.5 and 4.8gw of electricity.

If it is talking about total requirements, then the total generated will be more than 4800MW
For instance, most major manufacturers have their own power-generating systems, and some of them even sell and provide for their communities.

What happened with the APC promised 20,000 Mws additional electricity in 2015, to be delivered in four years

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) on Sunday promised to provide Nigerians with 20,000 megawatts (mw) of electricity within the first four years it takes over governance at the federal level. It maintained that its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) will improve the nation’s power situation significantly, if elected.

The proposed 20,000mw of electricity to be generated by the party in four years time will surpass Nigeria’s present consumption rate of around 15,000mw, the party had said.

Disclosing this in a statement issued by its spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, APCPCO expressed disappointment that the federal government under President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration has only succeeded in adding 1.400mw to the national grid in four years.

We generate an average 4800MW, what it means is that sometimes it's a below or above 4800MW.

However, we have never generated above 6000MW.

To generate 1mw of electricity, you need something north of 1 million USD. Understandably, power generation and transmission is very expensive but the only reason why Nigeria has never managed to generate above 7000mw is because of the blind and mindless looting of useless political class in Nigeria.

Egypt had the same issue of blackouts Nigeria has but it got Samsung onboard and in less than 6 years, samsung solved that issue. Egypt now comfortably generates over 60,000mw.

Samsung was actually invited into Nigeria to proffer solutions to our power problem by the late Kyari during Buhari's time but since the man died none of the bastards in the ministry of power have pursued that deal with Samsung.

Reduce the salary of political office holders for a period of eight years and genuinely invest the proceeds into power generation and supply. Problem solved. But I know this is impossible in a country run by criminals and drug barons who only care about their own interests.
