Hi, whilst i'm not an immigration lawyer who will offer you a better advice, there are just some key points worth noting here.
Firstly, according to a comment you made, that they have been separated since January but only recently legally divorced ( not sure what month). The subject matter remains;
1. Was the HO informed of the separation as stipulated on PBS dependant entry permit policy? If not, your colleague must be able to address when the time comes.

2. Is there evidence of travels to Nigeria (not just for the wedding) to establish "genuine relationship" which culminated into a marriage in 6months or thereabout and/or a month after a legal divorce.

3. If the answer to question 1 is NO, HO wasn't informed then it might be adjudicated as a breech of her dependant permit resulting in cancellation and curtailment. Alternatively, there was a substantial investigation by the Police, then there might be grounds for consideration on leniency which will be individually determined but not guaranteed.

So, the question about whether 6 months is enough, is very subjective and i can't provide a direct answer. What i can tell you is there shouldn't be too much worry if all the marriages and divorce were genuine but most assuredly is there will be an unannounced HO investigation.

I hope the information above helps in one way or the other.
1. No, since the police was involved she said she didn't do any other thing.

2. Yes, she is already in Nigeria about 3 times this year.

Thank you so much. You have been really super helpful.
God bless 👏🏾

The ECO would be looking greatly into your circumstances to evaluate risks versus benefits in granting you the visa.
It doesn’t help that you are only needed for 7 weeks face to face out of a couple of years programme which mainly would be covered online.
I am also worried that you are not able to show any funds personally to cover your trip.
There is a question on the visa form as to why a sponsor will be covering your trip. The costs for the program alone is 6000 pounds, by the time you add living expenses and feeding and miscellaneous for those 7 weeks it would almost double this figure.
The ECO will be wondering why a random stronger is willing to foot such bills. Also keep in mind that the ECO Would be mindful that should anything happen to the sponsor you would be left stranded and would recourse to public funds and or probably seek asylum.
Every visitor is seen as an intending illegal immigrant so it doesn’t help much when one’s circumstances are this way.

So put yourself in the shoes of the ECO and see if you could convince yourself first, if yes, then do apply. All the best.
The £6000 actually covers everything. I stated that.

What if he fixes the whole money in my name in a bank? And I submit the document.

Hard to say.
6000 with today’s exchange rate is over 12 million naira….
It also looks like you will be applying for standard visit visa as you do not qualify for a student visa… as 7 weeks intended… your circumstances must be used to judge you.

You can try keeping the money in your account and not fixed deposit for them to see it’s liquid and maybe do a gift deed just like the Canadian visa prospects do.
I do know the sponsor’s relationship will be questioned
I also do know financially at the moment you can not afford this.
I also know 7 weeks out of 3 years is negligible and not compulsory to grant you a visa, this is because your circumstances in Nigeria must be looked at. Either ways you are an intending immigrant to them until proven otherwise.

Good day everyone,
Please I need your help

How best can I answer these questions if this is my only reason for travelling: my sister is sponsoring and inviting me

Why are they helping to pay for your visit?

As she is family, my sister is happy to help cover my expenses for this visit as she wants me to come experience the winter and festive season in the UK and also take me to some fun places she has been to and can't stop talking about. Also to see my nephew and niece.

Give details of the main purpose of your visit and anything else you plan to do on your trip.

I would like to visit my sister in the UK and get to see my nephew and neice. Would also like to experience the winter season and go visit other places like Manchester football....

Please I really need your help urgently

Thanks

It is your own circumstances that matter and less about your sister. What are your own circumstances is the question you should be answering

The research is not 3 years. It's 18 months with compulsory residency for 7 weeks.

It's okay.

Please, how does the gift deed work?

I think you just have to state the denial and the reason. Then explain reasons why the large deposits were made. If you have a document to also evidence this large deposit ( e.g Performance letter from your work place stating the bonus), you can attach it as well.
Okay, thank you very much.

Yeah but who made the 7 weeks compulsory out of 18 months? That’s not even upto a fraction of the time and is negligible. Explore the Canadian visa/pr threads on nairaland. They have better information about gift deeds

Your sister would be providing accomodation and feeding right?

How much is your total cost?

Ticket, accomodation and feeding estimate, let's say £2000.

Your sister can cover £1500 under is anyone else paying for your travel?

Under how much are you personally spending put £500 or it's equivalent in Naira
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Opeyemi007: 1:37pm On Oct 18, 2024
No. How much will this trip cost you? £1000
That should be enough for ticket and small shopping.

Poster doesn’t need to state their sister is contributing money to the trip. They should just state they’re visiting family, and give address and invitation letter from the said sis saying she’s providing accommodation.

If they(poster) should state sis is contributing money t the trip, the sis would have to provide her bank statement, instead of the just providing utility letter to prove address and stuff.

The emails I have sent to this address have all been turned down by postmaster even when I sent the mails from the account that made the application. Please does anyone know the way forward. I have made all courier payments and now I feel stuck. Thank you!🙏

Visa Alert!
I am a silent reader and I happened to stumble again on this thread just after I submitted my application. ( Its almost becoming a norm for most people to discover this thread after submitting an application with mistakes cheesy.)
I submitted an application to visit the UK for our family of 6. My husband, to sponsor the trip for us all.

Mistake:
I entered the individual amount we would be spending in the space provided to answer the question "How much would you spend personally". I misinterpreted the question to mean, what's our individual budget for the trip. so instead of putting 1pound or NGN as the case maybe, I went ahead and wrote the whole sum!
I was so scared after i discovered this mistake but thanks to @cashmadam who said in one of her posts that God is still in the business of doing miracles, lol, I decided to be calm and let God do his thing!

I think some of these helped my case too:

1. There was a personalized sponsorship letter from my husband for myself and children, stating how much each of us would spend and how much he is providing.

2. After making the mistake of entering the total sum instead of putting 1pound or NGN (since our trip is entirely sponsored by my husband), in the ''How much would you spend personally" question, I still repeated the exact amount as what our sponsors would provide. For instance, after putting 3,000,000 NGN as what we would personally spend, I wrote 3,000,000 NGN as what my sponsor would contribute towards the trip. So I guess the ECO was able to figure that I misinterpreted the question.

3. I provided a detailed itinerary of our planned 3 weeks visit.

But in all, I want to attribute it to God, cause it could have gone the way regardless! Anyways, thanks to all the angels here, @giselle and @cashmadam, I have learnt how to properly fill the forms now, and I wont be making same mistake next time! To other applicants that may have made same mistake, I honestly think ECO's are trained to figure misinterpretations of questions and innocent mistakes. So I pray it works out well for you as it did for me. I have attached one of @cashmadam's response that gave me hope. Indeed God does show mercy! All the best!
