Why You Should Not Marry Unprepared: (photos) by Melagros(op): 5:56pm On Oct 22, 2024
COMRADES, I am creating this post in response to a thread created yesterday by a fellow Nairalander that; when he's married his living condition will be better! That he is tired of living in abject poverty! (I'll be very happy if the mods can attach that link to this post)

https://www.nairaland.com/8245002/life-get-better-when-got

I went to see a friend today, unfortunately, when I called her, she told me that she was not around, then I decided to stroll back home; on my way home, lo and behold! This is what I saw! A family of four: 'papa, mama, senior pikin, and junior pikin' carrying dirty sack bags on their heads, immediately, my curiosity was aroused! Then I said let me trail these guys and see what they were carrying, and where they were going! After trailing them for a long distance/ journey, then I discovered that they were scavengers! In awe, and disbelief, I'd exclaimed and asked myself!...a whole family scavenging in order to survive?

FIRST PHOTO; is the last kid, age between 9-10 years old

SECOND PHOTO; is the first son age between 11-12 years old, he was the first to arrive at the selling point, you can see that he is sorting the garbage/ market

THIRD PICTURE; their father walking barefooted, when you look at the photo of the father, you'll see that from afar there is a little school boy also staring at the father and the last child, a mild drama was played out at that moment, the mother of the little boy and his sisters had already boarded an autorigshow (keke) but the little boy has refused to follow them in, he stood outside staring at the scavengers...only God knows what was in the mind of that child

LAST PHOTO; when we all arrived at the selling point, then I looked at the other direction, there, I saw their mother coming to join them; I tried to know about the transaction, then the buyer (a Hausa guy) approached me (because I looked suspicious) and asked me, 'hope it is OK', I replied him in Hausa, 'yes it is'...I lost my way, then I left them there!

My advice to every single person/bachelor out there is that; things are not longer getting better in this country, always get yourself prepared before getting a woman pregnant or
married, don't allow anyone to push you into unprepared marriage and thereafter remained unarranged and scattered for the rest of your life!
Thank you all

Marrying unprepared is dangerous. But this poster is not enlightened. How did this poster verify that the family he saw is poor? The family may be rich or poor. The point is that the poster, who has not verified the financial status of the family, is judging a book by its cover.

Many garbage sellers are very rich. Some of them own parcels of land and houses. The man walking barefooted might be due to the lifestyle he has developed for himself over the years in the business. Using what you see them doing at the moment to judge their financial status is like using farming to judge the financial status of a man you meet in a farmland. It is like thinking that every Aboki that is following cows up-and-down in bushes is poor.

I admit that garbage business is a dirty one. But it is wrong to assume that every garbage seller is poor. Criticise the appearance of the business. But don't judge the financial situation of those in the business unless you know their account balances.

All these are stories to most Nigerian men and women🤣

I don't have much strength to type this evening. POVERTY, STUPIDITY & FOOLISHNESS can never be eradicated in Nigeria as long as the country remains one. The Sole beneficiaries will always want it to remain like that.

Ever since the day I realized most Nigerians can't be helped. I have been living a peaceful and lovely life.

Meanwhile una eyes don dey clear now abi🤣

The cost of living in PH is too high. I wonder what would be happening there during this Tinubu era. Meanwhile, trouble maker Melagros, don't you know that one of the most lucrative businesses in Nigeria now is dealing on scrap? Your movement here shows that you're jobless and probably eating your mom's food. So, I advise you to join the scrap business and thank me later.

I'm 86% joking oh Mela, before you crush my head here, abeg🙏

They will never listen. The annoying part is that, it is mostly married couples who are broke that marriage shame singles. You will hear things like: "Go and marry. Is it easy to be married"? I shake my head whenever I see married people with children struggling to survive. I feel no iota of pity for them because they brought the sufferings upon themselves.

The small boy doesn't even have a shirt

Only God knows what he thinks about

I saw a mad woman today, with her little girl of about 4 years old, I was wondering if the girl is still normal too, homeless at such age

Bro don't use appearance to judge people financial status. In a popular market in my city here, there are scrap buyers who are low-key financially alright but you won't know , they walk around in dirty and tattered cloth looking for scrap metals to buy. There are also young boys and girl involved as well, you can mistake them for homeless kids during the day when they are roaming the market for scraps to buy, but at night after work, they look unrecognizable in their designer wears. Those people might not actually be poor like you are assuming.

Shit business is serious business

Picture is for everyone.

A busy illiterate minding their business is far better than a graduate unable to mind their own business or fund the illiterate's business with their gossip mill.

The op is a busybody

What concerned you about marriage. Do you that this man might be rich before marriage and maybe due to Wike demolition his shop might be destroyed. So he join scrap business to survive

No body will marry when he or she knows that their children will suffer. No. They hope that they will make it in life

The pressure of city life that is. Less productivity yet more demand for things to sustain ones self.

See all those concrete and fine houses around? They are either public or private investments that must yield returns.

The little boy was wondering why you were using the camera. So many people have so many means of livelihood, one can only wonder what others are doing taking pictures while others focus on what they have to do

So, investigative journalism is now a gossip mill, right? When we expose/report a matter that doesn't suit your interest it becomes an offence, but when it suits your interests you heap praises on us!

At the heart of investigative journalism ethics is maintaining a balance between the public's right to know and the private rights of individuals. This balance may be delicate, but it's paramount to ensure that the journalist stays honest, fair, and respectful towards all subjects involved in their stories.

In essence, the pursuit of truth should not compromise human rights or cross ethical boundaries. While investigative journalism is essential to a healthy democracy, the ethics surrounding it play a significant role in determining its effectiveness and credibility. By making ethical considerations a top priority, journalists can tell compelling, honest, and impactful stories, negating any potential harm. Thus, an ethically sound, investigative journalism landscape is not just a desirable ideal, but a necessity in today's information-laden world.

This has nothing to do with marring unprepared. Life can happen to anybody. Moreover what they are doing is a very lucrative business. It seams dirty but there is a lot of money it. I belive the man knows that's why he involved his whole family (according to you).

Marry prepared is the lesson.
I have heard from some folks especially women and even clerics who argue that if you are single and jobless or you are poor the moment you marry things will turn around for you. I view them not only as fools but terrible manipulative people
