Tinubu and Akpabio should lead by examples... they should convert their official cars to CNG first... including all the 36 states governors...

To me CNG cars should be produced from scratch... anything conversion usually have problems, because as long as I'm concerned, it won't be properly done here.
Especially here in naija where there is poor work ethics. Where a mechanic will loose 10 bolts, then tie back 5 saying the others are unnecessary.

The protective devices /features must have been altered or not working properly. Authorities should carry out thorough investigations to avert future occurrences.

LPG cylinders are built for a working pressure of 7 bar and can withstand up to 30 bar of gas pressure. On the other hand, CNG cylinders are designed for much higher pressures, with a working pressure of up to 200 bar and the ability to withstand test pressures of 300 bar or more."

Unlike LPG cylinders, which can have welded joints or seams, CNG cylinders are seamless and do not have welded joints, making them more suitable for the high-pressure environment of CNG vehicles.

I urged all CNG refuelling stations to always conduct on-the-spot inspections to ensure that vehicles are equipped with approved conversion kits and labelled conversion centres.

We have welded joints that's holds over 800bar, the problem with CNG in Nigeria is that it is coming as an after thought. We preach that it is cleaner and cheaper but in Europe which is the HQ of climate campaign, their cars run on diesel, fuel and Electric etc. No CNG, if you want CNG, buy factory fitted CNG cars no make shift and expect all to be fine.

Dangote open petrol refinery and you want to switch to CNG.

We die there.....who will buy his petrol ?

CNG kill you there.
Hahahahah...this is quite funny, but true. Indeed, there is a high chance that some of these incidences are sponsored. I have seen the CNG cylinders NIPCO use and they are very reinforced and solid.

I want you all to tell me which country in the world it's citizens are converting their cars to use CNG? Most of you don't think at all. Are auto manufacturers not aware of CNG and did not made cars to run on CNG? I just dey pity you all.

Tinubu have never done anything right.
From his inaugural speech he started on a wrong note.
When they told Nigerians that his brain 🧠 was shaking little did they believe

As you have rightly said people have been using it since 2014 with cars manufactured with cng option directly from abroad and from the manufacturer. That is people's argument.

professorPABX:
We know CNG will explode in car in Nigeria as they have started anticipating it. CNG has been in Benin since 2014 and CNG filling station, Prayer City, IBAFO, Ogun State was built in
2014. Few vehicles have been using CNG since 2014, mostly vehicles brought from abroad. No explosion.

Immediately, progress is being made on CNG usage and there was concern about explosion, I know there would be explosion to BLACKMAIL government.

I have witnessed explosion before at Air Liquide, Ladipo Street, Matori, Lagos. For a Cylinder to explode at the boot of a car and there is a survivor in the car to explain, he should be invited for questioning about conversion and cylinder type.

no matter the cause of explosion, gas is gas and highly flammable and dangerous,
probably the cylinder was getting hot in the trunk of vehicle or the cable that passed from the cylinder to the engine had lickage ,
it's dangerous anyhow

Is the CNG container approved by SON and other bodies that regulate goods. Nigerians should stop this non challant attitude. We must make things easy for ourselves in this country. Tinubu is trying to make things easy for Nigerians but I know we have a lot of strong head and stubborn people for this country. Developed countries do use this CNG and they are not complaining. But in Nigeria you will see different dramas.

It is risky to convert a car that was initially designed for petrol to CNG.
Government is just managing the people by selling the CNG option.

Converted petrol vehicle to CNG is not safe.
I had mentioned this on one of the CNG threads..

Nigerians should not pay heed to the FG on its push for citizens to convert their vehicles to operate on CNG..

It's almost like the nigerian government is bereft of ideas to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians, But to recommend ways to kill them further..

The vehicles we have have been designed to only run on the right spec of PMS. Why push for methane gas to run these same engines/vehicles? What's the hydrocarbon spec range for all of our vehicles in line with the manufacturer's manual or data books? Can our engines sustainably combust methane gas without maintenance gaps?

just like diesel engine vehicles are designed to only handle heavy diesel ends and not PMS.. the same applies..

We cant just expect our PMS designed engines to suddenly run on methane gas irrespective of the conversion kits folks install..

Our vehicles are not gas generators or gas turbine engines..

PBAT should be the first person to have CNG in his official vehicle, same for the first lady and their children. Also recommend for all Federal Legislators and Ministers. Then Nigerians will know that he means well for us

No advanced nation uses CNG for cars for a specific reason....safety
Not so much safety as efficiency. There's a risk to driving around with a large pressurised gas tank in your trunk, true. But it's not widely used abroad because CNG is less energy efficient than octane fuel.

There are so many reports of car explosions resulting from CNG conversion recently. All of them can't be false. Even VDM has made a video on the risks associated with CNG conversion. I wouldn't advice anyone to convert to CNG. Na who dey alive go save cost from using CNG.

Hmm!

At best it should be used for generators...and the cylinders placed in a cool and safe place within the compound...

CNG is not an alternative for vehicles in Hot Climate period!

It is well !

NIPCO has been selling CNG long before fuel palaver , they have one functional station inbetween Berger and RCCG along Lagos Ibadan Express way, with facilities and experts to check your cylinders before selling to you, I’m saying this because I once took a car out of Lagos during one of the fuel scarcities 4 years ago and the driver entered there with his opel zafira , topped his CNG and zoomed off, every CNG cylinder have an expiration date and that’s the first thing that was checked before they sold to him , I’m afraid majority of the commercial drivers will ignore these, they will even soon start selling it by the road side like the cooking gas if possible .
