1 bag of rice is 120,000 naira

1 liter of petrol is 1080 naira

1 unit of nepa bill is around 240 naira or so

1 bottle of coca cola is 400 naira

1 bottle water is 200 naira for normal bottle water.

1 loaf of bread is 1500 naira

A room self content in Lagos mainland is around 450,000 naira excluding agency and agreement fees.

Now how is the poster chasing clout if you sum up all these and calculate what the person earning 300k salary would consume in a month with his wife and kids, do you think his salary can comfortably cover their monthly bills if they are to feed adequately and live a good life?

I think your yardstick for the classification is wrong

If a single young man with no wife, kids or parents to assist earns 300k a month, he is still a bit above the poverty line but very close to poverty line if he makes any slight mistake.

But any man with a wife and at least 1 child earning 300k a month in current day Nigeria is a poor man, his income will never sustain him and his family without depending on someone else or some illegal means of getting kickbacks from work. That is the sad truth in Nigeria now and reason many working class Nigerians engage in illegal transactions at their workplaces while some combine their job with online gambling, borrowing from friends, online begging, begging friends abroad, etc to augment their salary while you think they are okay

Oga you're entitled your opinion likewise him. It shouldn't degenerate to the level of considering 2 fighting. One of the problem facing Nigeria is in uncontrolled population which is causing too much burden on the available resources coupled with the level of corruption. I just learnt that a friend of mine who earn less than 120k as a federal worker has given birth again after 3 kids. Imagine the way people always put themselves for problems and later be blaming govts for everything. Are people not suppose to limit giving birth to not exceeding 3 children?

In 2014 $588=N100k on rate $/170 salary for entry level Graduate

2024 $69=N120k on rate of $/1725

If someone paid in 2014 $588 and now $69

Fuel in 2014 N87/L and now N1200/L

In summary 500k is like 50k in 2014 so the guy was right.

What makes someone poor?

1.) Poor or inadequate accommodation or being homeless due to poor income.

2.) Poor feeding; eating unbalanced diet because your income cannot afford a 3 square balanced diet meal

3.) Poor clothing

4.) Poor access to healthcare or lack of access to healthcare

5.) Poor access to clean drinking water

6.) Poor access or no access to quality education

The above are what make someone poor.

Now tell me honestly, how many Nigerians earning 300k a month can comfortably afford the aforementioned things without borrowing or asking others for help directly or indirectly?

Broke…not poor. You need 10k to survive daily in Nigeria…i don already do 1k for subscription today and I would have to do another 500 naira… I got snacks for me and my friend, 3 doughnut and some puff puff…ended up spending 1900 on snacks…I say make I buy food for morning, beans 500 + bread 450 + pomo 200 naira and meat 200 naira…I had to share my food with a friend too so it’s almost like I never chop…transport today cost me 3k and that’s just to where im going to, I reached the busttop and tried to check the price of uber from the busstop to my street, it was 2500, I had to cancel and enter keke 400 naira…thats why I was able to reduce tfare to 3k because if I was going to try uber, I would have soent like 15k on transport…the weird thing is, it’s less than a 30mins journey inside lagos…I have not eaten lunch or dinner, I have not chested any billing today and the transport below is only for “TO” as the cost below doesnt cover going back to my own location

My expense today

Data = 1500
Snacks = 1900 [3 doughnut @ 450 and puff puffs]
Breakfast = 1350 ( beans and bread)
Transport To only= 3000
Haircut = 1000

Total = 8750

Imagine if I had to stick with this unrealistic budget that would have me eat once in a day for 30 days(8750 *30) =262,500 naira

{I never chop lunch and dinner, I never calculate transport to go back, I haven’t given anyone that beg me money today, because in nigeria now, lot of people are less privileged than I am, me wey still dey homeless, dey struggle to feed…I am still considered to be privileged even in my misery …so staying on one square meal per day would cost me almost 10k daily and this is not inclusive of rent…

So on a normal day, I’d need 20k daily to live a stable life, minus house rent

So I your opinion let Tinubu continue with his anti life policies in Nigeria while people just become defe dive by reducing their nunber of children to adapt, even it might get to a point where people may no longer marry to adapt. 120k of a country's currency is whole lot of money. This ass licking is senseless. I spend roughly at least 20k every 3 days to Fuel my car. Sometimes more depending on my movements/ meetings for the day. How can anyone earning 500k manage that? These days I have to think long and hard if a meeting or function is really important before I can attend.
