The middle class is very broad and that's where many people miss it. There's the upper, middle and lower middle class.

In Nigeria, the lower middle class do not travel to their village by air for Christmas. There's never been a time in Nigeria's history where the lower middle class travelled by air.

In Europe, the lower middle class benefit from their advanced public transportation infrastructure.

The reluctance to travel by road in recent times has more to do with insecurity than income.

Based on my theory, 1.8 million is too much for rent in most Nigerian cities apart from Lagos.

So even though you paid 1.8 million naira for rent, you should have 3,000,000 naira remaining for the rest you mentioned.

Also, in economics, nothing concerns us with whether you have 2 or 5 dependents. If you choose to have 5 dependents in 2024, that's your poor choice.

I hope you guys realize that 500k is less than $300 while 800k is about $470.

My strong advise for anyone reading this is to find any and ALL possible LEGAL ways or method to earn in US Dollars while working in Nigeria

It's very sad.. 200-500k used to be a very good salary years back. Price of things have trippled yet the salary remain constant, even some lost this source of income because their organisation cannot pay salaries anymore... May God ease all our affairs cry

You might not agree with him but 300 ain't nothing much when you factor the price of good now. My parent and a cousin are struggling to 400k monthly stipend and usually broke before the end of the month. They are retired and live rent free and still broke before month end. I can only imagine couple with kids, who still have to commute to work. 500k is the new 100k since Tinubu becomes president.

Oga you are poor if you earn that amount, simple. You are not middle class but bottom, lower. That amount will bearly fuel just 1 car for a month. It is fuel money. You cannot buy a 2003 ie 21 year old corola saving for 5 years with such income. You cannot even afford to send a child to university not to talk of 2 at once.
Not that you wount survive earning that, but on a lower class level.

You guys will support any rubbish until this country burns! N500k is now $285 at N1750 as at today! Thats $9 a day. Poverty line is $2 a day mind you so what is the difference ?

I earn above that and things are so bad. Fuel cost around N200k a month, electricity around N70k a month, N100k food stuff can’t even last a full month. Let’s not talk about rent. I can’t even pay my subscription for apps I used to use because the money seems so much. $10 subscription that used to be little money is now N17,500. I cannot afford so many professional courses that uses to be around $200 because it will mean I won’t eat or pay my bills that month.

By any standard $285 per month is poor in most countries not just Europe. Stop supporting rubbish.
