Henryfocoyo:E be like say APC don't inflict poverty mentality on Nigerians, so much so most people don't even understand what standard living means anymore. A family of 4 adults living on N500k for 2 months cannot live comfortably and eat anything they like. With that family income you would probably be living in a room and parlour in poor suburban neighbourhood, eating poor quality food that lacks protein on a diet of 101, flying danfo for transportation to work or business (that's assuming no school fees is involved). A single egg is now now 300, a loaf of sliced bread is N1500. So how much will breakfast of eggs and bread with tea cost for a family of 4 adults? What's about a meal of beans and dodo, mind you derica of beans is N2500. A small bunch of plantain is N1500. We have not even considered cost of other ingredients like oil, pepper, etc., and gas to cook the beans. Rice and meat/chicken nko? The cost is the same. The N250,000 per month would barely be enough to feed well alone, not to talk of other expenses. I am sure if you guys should contact malaria or typhoid, na agbo or prayers you go use take cure am, because hospital bill for ordinary malaria and typhoid pass N10k per person. Original augmentine capsules now don reach N15k. If dem admit any of una for hospital for one night, just hold 50k. Live a comfortable life and eat whatever you like indeed. |

... and how many people are earning up to 500k in this current economy when companies are even retrenching workers to minimize cost. It's really scary |

wirinet:He may be right in that "comfortable life" to him may mean the very fact that he has that one bedroom face me I slap you as opposed to living under the bridge. "Comfortable life" to him may be being able to afford one portion of rice at Iya Basira as opposed to nothing. "Comfortable life" to him may just be way, way, way, way, way beneath any reasonable standard that you and I may expect. And make no mistake, such is reality. Think of it this way. There are many people living a life with a salary below 100k a month right now. Many. Just imagine what a sudden bumb to 250k would represent for those people. The truth is they will still be living a very impoverished life, but in their own minds, such would be a "comfortable life." All na levels. There is another point he is right on. Different lifestyles and levels of spending. Someone can earn N10 Million a month and consider himself broke. Certainly you will agree that if Dangote was earning that he will consider himself stark broke. For someone else, it would be paradise. |

Kelklein:Boss this your analysis no too get head oo Why you go dey convert salary payment for Nigeria to US dollar to explain our harsh reality? Na the same economy we get with US? Abi you know the kind bill wey dem dey chest for that side?? Internet and globalization na really a curse and blessings too. Imagine a landlords demanding for house rent price similar to the ones in the USA? So in summary, your point is understood and true according to what's on ground in Nigeria but that analysis of comparing US dsalary to ours na wash Also that guy above still has a point too. |

Love800:Pre-1999 is an era where we had the extremely rich and extremely poor people. That is the era where few people could afford cooking gas, buy brand new car, board airplanes, own a telephone, etc. just to mention a few. You can add yours. |

Bros do the math. If you can write this long episode to defend the mess we are into, you can as well pick your calculator and punch the reality... Let me tell you how to start. First Divide 500 or 300k by 31 days then continue from there. Make sure you are real in allocating your figures 😀😎 We are in deep mess bruh. Something needs to be done very urgently else we will all perish or slide into abject poverty before 2025 😎 SoftSport: |

preciouswoman66:But me and you live in a country where 99.9% of the vehicles with all drive are imported. Shey na with Naira dem dey import am. Where 99.9% of the clothes we all wear including the okrika are imported.. shey na with Naira dem dey import am. Where 100% of the phones me and you are using to argue now are imported. Where the current government is currently pricing our energy in dollars (the socalled international rate) converted.. Over 75% of our lives is run by that greenback, but when it comes to wages, you all think it's OK to settle for peanuts?!?! Are you aware that Nigeria has one of the least paid people in the world (Google it) couple with one of the highest unemployment rate given the population. When we say these thing, not for any personal reasons, just for those on Authority to know that they need to do better. The people deserve more than they get. |

Difrent:Foolish church rat, I’m not about to measure deeks with you, your mentality says it all. You’re an animal to think you’d go far in life with 500k monthly. Mumu child, you’re still being spoon-fed so I don’t blame you, it’s your malnourished father I blame. Can you afford a bicycle, let’s not talk about a vehicle? I won’t bother asking if you can pay your one room’s rent cos you still squat with your poverty-stricken parents and siblings who are probably tired of your lazyass. 500k is chicken change right now, foolish boy! I’m not surprised, imbe wey still support Buhari! Sense is extremely far from you. Baboon feeling funky. Quote me when your learn how to punctuate properly… Poverty-stricken animal! |

Originakalokalo:Same here. With three children and average 400k per term for school fee(3months) 100k monthly for their provisions, manage 200k for household feeding and expenses, paying a 2bedroom rent of 600k, transportation 100k per month. Entertainment, vacation, and other minor things are not included Now tell me how 500k is a enough monthly If you earn 500k monthly that is 6m per month. All the expenses I listed up there is roughly 6.6m. per year. |

SoftSport:"Undermining the government efforts" statement gave you up. Government efforts that is putting more people in poverty zone? I earn that much but Tinubu has turned living in present Nigeria into struggle and nightmare. That amount 300k-500k will be huge to those who don't earn that much or close to that, but it doesn't have much value under Tpain |

wirinet:He's capping. He thinks we're talking about the prices of items under Buhari or Jonathan. The prices of food now is now like times 3 or 4 compared to under Buhari. Even if he manages to survive with 250k per month, is that going to all? He won't bother about saving or investing? He will just be living from hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck? |

Kelklein:Thinking like this we lead our country to high crime rates and other bad activities. How do you expect companies [local ones] to pay USA equivalent to people who lives in "third world" countries? Not that they[company] make a lot of profit These are result of globalization and the internet. Many people[including me but I'm different cause I ask more for international companies and not the local ones] in Nigeria has seen how much their mate earned abroad hence the demand of equivalent in USD payment in USA and co. But that isn't the issue here One of the reasons why we use USD for lot of things in Nigeria is cause we're import dependent country with little export returns to finance our lifestyle in the country. So for the USD issue in Nigeria, we[individuals and government officials] need to find way to sell/trade values in the international market to make our currently stronger hence reducing exchange rates. |
