Normally, in these perilous times of insecurity, most people won't want to enter into people's houses like that. Imagine it's even late, what if the bolt guy was even scared of entering into such a big house. The law maker was wrong.

While violence must be unequivocally condemned, we must also avoid hasty judgments.

The bolt driver stated that he was struck three times and had his clothes torn to shreds simply for requesting that the lawmaker, Ikwechegh, step outside to collect his package.

We must also await a response from the lawmaker to achieve a more balanced understanding of the situation.

Yes you are right but the law maker had already shown how uncouth he is for showing tyrant act through his verbal and actions as seen from the viral clip.

Bolt Driver Slapped By House Of Reps Member, Ikwechegh Finally Breaks Silence (Video)

By Wisdom Nwedene

A Bolt Driver who was slapped by a Federal Lawmaker, representing Aba North South Federal Constituency, Mr Alex Ikwechegh has finally broken Silence and revealed what happened.

In another video obtained by 9News Nigeria, the Bolt driver said he was slapped three times and his clothes shredded into pieces just because he asked the lawmaker, Ikwechegh to come out and collect his package.

According to him, " I just received three slaps and my clothes shredded into pieces from this man right now who claims to be a House of Reps Member".

"I didn't confront him or do anything bad to him. Please, I need help right now," the Bolt Driver said.

9News Nigeria had reported that in the viral video, the lawmaker can be seen slapping the driver multiple times. Later the driver asked him "did you just slap me three times?", which je replied, "twice and you will soon receive the third slap".

Also, in the video, Ikwechegh was heard telling the vendor that he can make the driver disappear and nothing will happen.

"I can make you disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen. Do you know who I am?".

"I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I can lock you up in my Generator House and nothing will happen," Ikwechegh said in the viral video.

He also said he won't ask the police officers protecting him to beat up the driver but will do it himself.

Meanwhile, the action has generated a mixed reaction on the social media.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Ikwechegh proved abortive.

You don't slap somebody's father and husband for any reason.
Besides, he is someone who claims he makes laws for for our Nation.

You don't put laws into your hand,

Should the driver got it wrong in anyway,
Why not take legal action against him?
Why not invite the police?

As a law maker, he is supposed to leave by example.

In the process of according him respect, we must also not disrespect the bolt driver because he is not a house of reps member. Remember, we were all nobodies before assuming positions in life and We all mostly still return to being nobodies.
I don't see anything wrong in asking him politely to come for his package and I also do not see anything wrong in taking his package to him while you have stepped his premises already.
I remember the first time I would enter BOKKU supermart to get bread, the front lady didn't treat me well too but I kept my cool. First, she kept me waiting after I had transfered to their POS and kept serving other customers and when I called her attention, she confirmed the payment and asked me to pack my bread from their table into the nylon myself. Then I called the manager, who also confirmed that that is their policy, they don't pack for customers. Then, it was left for me to decide to come back or never to return.

There is no point insulting the guy na. He made his point and it's a personal opinion. Even at that, in every 'nonsense', there is a 'sense'. Honestly, some drivers are arrogant and wicked. If you use Uber constantly, you will understand what he meant.

However, on this particular issue, two wrongs don't make a right. The law maker was wrong by taking his aggression beyond limit. A mere word of caution would have been enough.

Now to the uber driver, he is an errand guy! What's the point of showing ego and pride as a servant? He ought to come out of his car, bring out the package and hand over to the recipient. Thank God, the recipient was sitting outside, which would have made everything flexible. I will not support the driver to enter the house if he was requested to do so. But that's not the case here. The driver was rather arrogant, as seen among many of them in Nigeria. There is "dignity in labour". Some people have located their destiny helpers just by show of respect and humility while struggling to survive.

Take for example, an Uber food vendor or delivery man will bring food to your doorstep in USA, he won't ask you to come pick it from his car. I used USA as a case study because Uber originated from there. But then, this is Nigeria where everything is so upside-down. Many people will not identify the arrogance on display but will be quick to crucify the law maker, simply because he's an enemy of the masses for stealing public money. Common sense should apply so that others will learn!!

This is why some Nigerians cannot live in Western countries. With a little money and position, they start seeing themselves as 'big men,' incapable of picking up a pin by themselves.
A lot of Nigerian so called big boys campaigning against Japa are in this category angry

Very unintelligent summation. Rather than attacking the issue in question, this writer here is busy attacking the ethnicity of the issue. That is rather lame and preposterous. This is a very subjective reasoning and not objective. This speaks a lot of volume as to the mindset of this writer.

which hasty judgement are you referring to?

what makes the lawmaker "a prominent figure in this nation"?

does being a "a prominent leader in this nation" give him the right assault the driver?

what response are you expecting from the rascal legislator that will justify his actions?

what balancing are you expecting that should be balanced?

Haha i really laugh you sir.. Do you not know that the man was caught on a camera assaulting and threatning life? And he is a public office holder..
Let me breakdown how this sort of cases work..

More than 10 different lawyers may have contacted the guy to defend him for free by now and share percent from the damages that may be paid thereafter.. Very soon you will hear a hefty sum being slammed on the lawmaker in charges that will be pressed soon.. The only easy way out of this is for the lawmaker to settle out of court. In that way he will spend his money but avoid jail.. Otherwise he will suffer the two in jail.. Go and ask senator Abbo of adamawa. I bet he had done more good deeds than this guy..

MadPolitician:
It was wrong. He shouldn't have gone toe to toe with the ijiot driver.
But the reuth is that no one is paying dearly. Get used to this.
The guy is even popular in his state. He's from Abia and is always involved in different giveaways. The system will mellow things down as usual.
Meanwhile, whosoever that has been slapped, can not be "unslapped". Always remember this before putting your unfortunate chin in harmsway

What is commerce? Let us judge from the statement of bolt driver. He was sent to deliver service. Between the bolt driver and the senator who supposed to deliver the good? The implication of this is that had the senator reported whatever company he is working for will relieve him of his duty.
The senator erred by slapping him but the bolt driver didn't tell us what prompted the senator do do that... Whether it was self defence or because the driver racial abuse him apparently looking at the senator he is an Albion.
Invading a senator's privacy by making a video of him in his own house...I don't think you know its an offence. You don't think the court knows that the senator has security personnel under his charge who could have thrown this man away. You don't also think that this driver shot himself on the leg by making all these series of videos and comments. People are not as dumb as you think. Likewise the court.
