Living Like Paupers But Have Money by Sterlingdgreat(op): 1:17pm On Oct 28, 2024
I have an uncle who is a senior civil servants. Before he even got the Job, he was booming in business. Right now, he has landed properties, 3 houses on lease that I know of, livestock being manage by some fulanis. With all this, are they not supposed to be living well with his family? No! Otherwise is the case. The children always look malnourished. They hardly eat good food at home, always carbohydrates in a meagre quantity. The children are always looking hungry. They can go a whole month eating with no meat or fish.

Funny enough, they serve their visitors the same as they are living. Most of the times I almost get ulcer staying with them for just a week. Time table for me is 1 0 1 serving me food that cant even satisfy a 3 year old kid.

I always wonder which kind of life is that. You have money but your family can't enjoy it. instead, he's investing it on mundane things

He only has 6 kids. Nobody is living with them again

This their lifestyle has always been like this since ages past even before this tinubulation

Please is it normal to be investing your money and not take care of your immediate family

I don't mean to sound like a Debby downer to you but let me ask you some questions and I hope you answer them because I mean no harm to you in any way and I hope you will get some insight after this..

1, dose the life your uncle live with his family belongs to you?

2, were you invited to their house or were you the one who invited your self for the purpose of self service?

3, why does his lifestyle and that of his family affects you?

4, dose your own father have his own business like your own uncle?

5, what was your sole purpose of going to visit your uncle?

6, your own house tire you to stay if yes then whyhuh

7, the way you carry your uncle matter come here for NL na so him dey carry your own matter come talk for NL?

8, don't you think the time you used to compose this topic would have been much better if you took it to brain storm how to make a great business ide come to life?

9, why professional side skill have you been able to learn on your own by yourself that will help you jump shoot to the next stage in life.

10, don't you think you should have just stayed in your own father's house and mind your business??

I have more questions for you but I think this will do for now.

6 kids in this period, even if he is making 2m per month, he will still struggle, as he is already. There's nothing I fear so much right now as my wife giving birth again grin grin grin

Also OP, you said he's your uncle, why don't you have good chat with him? No one likes to suffer, he might be paying heavy loan or something

He's my uncle for sure and we are related by blood. In my own culture we take families serious and we all leave as one.

I love him and I do love his children.
I mean well for him in all he does. Come to think of it , with this borrowed life we have, why won't you enjoy this short life even if it is just once in a blue moon. I can't imagine not taking my children out even if it is once in a year even if it is just ShopRite.

Would you have money and be leaving such a miserable life

Moreso, I am a student also learning a skill.
My uncle happens to be the only family member living in the town I am schooling. It is normal to go and chillax in his house once in a while. If I don't, he will ask y I ghosted them. My dad too will ask. I'm not going there because of his money or any personal gains but solely for bonding

Then I will honestly advice you from what you have said to focused of your studies and plan your own future.
Your uncle is living his life and I will advice you live yours. You say you don't like the food the way of life they live so if it doesn't align with your way of life then deviate from it.

You don't have to live their life for them. If the wife and kids are not happy where they are they will leave or have any of the family members i.e the wife or kids come to complain to you about their way of life?

Also I am glad you said you can't have kids and not take them out to spoil them once in a while which I commend will be a great thing so I will advice you to focus your energy and time on making your life better and make good of your own family when you marry.
Let your uncle and his own family live the way they want.

What that man is doing is his own ideology when he isn't here today his children and wife will enjoy his hard work. I will advice you to try and pick one or two lessons from his way of life and make changes towards yours when you come of age to be a father.

OP I understand you perfectly, the thing can be painful and disturbing these behaviors are observed in different walks of life including private and government profession. sometimes you will see a mother elegantly dressed in expensive attire but the children will look so unkept and malnourished or in most cases a healthy wife with a malnourished husband that looks like a house help, the house help own is the worst as some are easily detected in family outings etc.

I get your point man.

Your Uncle is in a cult.

Money rituals things.

If you love yourself you would stay away from that house.
