You read the right up wrongly. The bill actually wants the VAT to go to the states where the items are consumed because VAT is a consumption tax. Since the North is against the consumption of beer, only states that allow alcohol consumption should enjoy the proceeds of VAT from alcohol sales.

Northern politicians will ask you to come to the National Assembly for political restructuring knowing full well that the National Assembly is overpopulated by legislators from the old Northern region through the vice of the excess number of states created by northern military dictators in the old Northern region. If a southeasterner asks for political restructuring, some southern folks will even say one state in the north is larger than total land mass of all the five southeast states added together, so why ask for more states for the southeast?

They have said Headquarters location should not matter, so let's go by consumption statistics. We need to see their percentages in telecommunications, power oil and gas, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, etc. We'll then distribute VAT revenues accordingly. I believe they would regret it.

Is it only alcohol we get VAT from? What they are talking about is valid. What they are complaining about should be look into by the lawmakers, and the lawmakers should also make sure states practicing shari'a shouldn't get 1 Kobo from VAT gotten from alcoholic drink

The current VAT sharing formula is just another way the south subsidizes the North. VAT is paid on goods services in a particular location. If my state has made efforts to increase economic activity, why should the VAT from such activity be going to another state? Without these kind of reforms the north will NEVER stand on it's feet and will remain poor, backward and underdeveloped
