There is not nothing logical about the question. The questionnaire failed to obey the fundamental principle of Mathematics.

The sign of EQUALITY in mathematics means everything you have in the RHS is the same as the expression in the LHS.

9 + 5 = 16 can never be possible in this lifetime unless there is a hint that to that linear expression.

In another expression:

6 + 3 = 9

Imagine the contradiction

Let's test that pattern:

1. 9 + 5 = (9 * 5) - (9 - 5) = 45 - 4 = 16
2. 6 + 3 = (6 *3) - (6 - 3) = 18 - 3 = 9
3. 13 + 7 = (13 * 7) - (13 - 7) = 91 - 6 = 36
