Good evening Nairalanders!

So i was talking with a friend this evening who plans to pick a date next year and do the official thing with his fiancée before May 2025.

I projected 1.5m for everything, including marriage list, ma guy was shocked, and i was surprised he was surprised

He is not a Nairaland person so i told him i will post here and see what people's reactions is like towards what the cost could be like. Note that he'll be following the tread too.

Children litter this platform with childish posts. How can you ask us what you should budget for your wedding? Are we the ones to set the standard for you? A closed door wedding can cost more than an open field wedding. And open field wedding can cost more than another open field wedding. It depends on the class of the wedding. Know your pocket and set your wedding standard according to your pocket, that's all.

Get a marriage planner to cost your wedding ceremony.
Or better still understudy someone who is planning to do wedding before your set date.
You can actually plan it yourself.I did mine myself.

A guy who is ready for marriage shouldn't be caught asking certain questions. If you can't come up with an estimate for your wedding reception, then you are not yet ready for marriage.

Open field marriage in this Tinubu's economy would attract hundreds of gate crashers. Cos there's hunger in the land.

Let's even do the maths. Rice is about 100k, goat or ram is over 500k, ingredients to cook your rice would be above 100k.

By the time you add salad, moi moi and swallow, your money is gone. And you've not even bought drinks, paid bride price, paid DJ, photographer, canopy and chairs...etc.

That 1.5m wouldn't go anywhere.

Oh he wasn't in the country for the celebration. He celebrated it with a white family like that which is fine with me as long as they don't introduce their niece or sisters to him .

Well I celebrated him by turning to monitoring spirit for him. It's a big deal I don try.
