Less than a week, I employed this boy o, to manage my gas filling retail business and POS.
He displayed passion, initiative and experience about the gas filling business and handling of POS....so I just took the chance, we also speak same language. I've been acting nice and all but I think I now know why most Nigerian bosses are mean to their workers by default

Now from first cylinder we couldn't account for 10kg
Second cylinder was started today by him......when I told him to calculate everything sold from first cylinder based on daily record book ....it felt short of 10kg

From the sales from second cylinder that started today, The account book does not tally with what is remitted through ATM/POS mode of payment .....I dint know this until I checked my Moniepoint acct as I got home now cos my phone was dead before I went to the shop this evening
.
Even the POS part of the business does not tally with the cash I gave him this morning for people who need cash withdrawal
.
I'm boiling right now realizing the boy had lied to me when balancing the account this night using the record book, only to get home and power my phone to see cash fell short of 23k in my monie point acct linked to the POS

How do you handle boys who think they are smarter than you because theyve been in the business before?

And what are your experiences with dishonest workers in your business , especially this gas retail business or POS business

Is very hard to get genuine people

If you don’t the time to monitor your business, you must have a tight monitoring system.

In general, don’t start a business you won’t be able to PERSONALLY monitor.

I've been trying to psychoanalyze this boy since he started ....my mind wasn't at rest because certain things I discerned about him ....I dint know he will bite so soon.

I also now understand why he sort made a mild argument abt my firm insistence on record, record, and my style and design of the record book...which he claimed was not the conventional style that every other people he worked with used.....I had to say that's how I want my own record book to be.

I guess the best option for you is to fire the petty thief. Get a girl to work for you. Anyone you wish to employ must present a guarantor.

My bro, Nigerians mentality (majority) is to kill the owners business and start there own.
So let me give you a few tips as a financial analysis.
Always do daily stock count (opening and closing stock.

Never miss business with pleasure

Always pay your staff early and on time to remove the zeal to steal from you.
Practice ghost buying.( you send someone who your staff don't know to come buy from you and check if the monies reflects in your sales record)
Appreciate them for hardwork and punish them for laziness.

This happened to me, but I gave him the beating of his life and got him arrested and he's no longer working for me.

It's very hard to see young and honest people these days to work for you. They're not really concerned about the warfare of business, they came to steal.

They tend to act nice and humble during the first 5 days of work, afterwards they show you their true color.

You are supposed to be monitoring him since first day in office. Until you are confirmed if he is honest or dishonest guy.

Meanwhile, stop trusting people base on tribe, religion or even blood relationship. Nigerins are too dishonesty, only 1% or less that have moral integrity.

I have made up my mind not to give work for relative or people I close to, I often meet disappointment whenever I tried it.


While you show act of kindness, by giving them jobs to do, they would reciprocrate it by draining you, until you regret your actions.

I can feel you, bro. Been through that experience. Took a boy from the streets and handed my retail business over to him. A few months later, he ran away with my goods and money. Never been seen till today. That’s why I’m scared of starting over again because the trauma just can’t go away.

You don't employ people onto this kind of biz without a viable guarantor and you must know where both of them live.

Let him. Go ASAP if you get him arrest you would spent money
