My thinking too, cos I've been paying WHT on fixed deposits before I got a TIN.
I think WHT remittance can be made to the FIRS with or without the payer's TIN. So that should not be used as an excuse to withhold people's funds.

Makes me even think: I don't even remember submitting TIN to my current employer, yet they've been removing PAYE on a steady.
Individual TIN of for WHT deductions while PAYE you need a PAYE ID what your organization is doing is either they are underpaying taxes hence the reason you don't get alert of deductions. Please visit etax if you are in Lagos.

They tend to miss out more often than FBN. This means when they don't, you get good rates.

Same reason I didn't attend NDA because I believed nigeria will break up before I graduate. This country is indissoluble.

We ain't tense at all as it was under IBB and Abacha.

But if we dissolve, experts, what happenshuh

Assets and liabilities will be shared - my thoughts.

Military takeover is different from out right dissolution/segregation.

For Military takeover, everything still runs except there's a decree (which will be catastrophic ) to overide or your investment in bonds goes into thin air technically because your debtor don kaput.

Edited 1:02pm -->
In a situation of dissolution of the union, the base currency denominated bonds becomes worthless , coupon recoup will be almost impossible. but foreign currency denominated bonds will liquidate secure-backed assets (aka collateral) to payback debtors.

Other asset like shares and debentures will be subject to how dissolution affects the companies operations. Liquidation , repatration of capital to the main base (wherever that may be in the respective situation example Luciano & Lansky run casinos , and other US covert operations moving from Cuba after fidel castro took over ) or to shareholders that may be in a different country due to such effect.

For companies still functional after dissolution, this may mean trade risk exposure such as tarrifs, import-export controls, currency risk etc. To get a gist of what dissolution/ separation may look like, east-west germanypost WWII is an example to read up on.

All that said, Those who have not experienced disruption fantasize about it till it's at the doorstep where buyer remorse is not an option.

Why waste time on scenarios that are not going to happen? Nigeria has been one country for 110 years! Best to spend time on more meaningful thoughts/actions such as how to fix the economy and restore our materially reduced position as the Giant of Africa wink

Nigeria is not breaking up anytime soon.

But I really admire the courage of the people betting on the naira for such long periods.

Because with this high inflation rate, by the time you get your money back in a few years time, it'd be worth next to nothing.

Bought my corolla in 2019 for 1.4m

Today, the same car goes for 7.5m.

There's no amount of compounding that would have turned 1. 4m invested in 2019 to 7.5m in 2024.

At this stage of our economy, is it still advisable to convert to dollar?

Why are we discussing bonds in a treasury bills thread?

Treasury bills is at an all time high with Yields of 29.8%.
