justwise:From the link: However, in July, education secretary Bridget Phillipson stated that the party would not be raising tuition fees, with universities to be supported by international student recruitment. I agree. This is the price to pay for lower migration numbers. The country needs the money international students bring and still goes ahead to chastise them for 'ruining the economy'. The money they brought in was not miniscule afterall as some opined. And as we can see, those in government circles made good plans on how to spend that money. |

missjekyll:With over 5000 houses in in side hustle, should the King be taxed 'until he shivers'? Hehe Finally, he's had a tough patch of late- from being heckled by an Australian senator to commonwealth nations speaking loudly about the dark past to this. I now quickly see why the news of how the King was rumoured to have reduced his brothers allowance was quickly 'leaked' to the press to water the ground and show them as being financially prudent before this became public. |

missjekyll:"We can only dream of the tourism figures for France who famously have no royal family" That's because the French people deposed and executed their King and Queen by guillotine. Somehow I don't see the same Revolution happening in the UK. |

missjekyll:You have made some valid points but they still bring a lot of value to the UK. The only reason I will support the scrapping of the monarchy is so that they will feel the effects of what they did to ours too even though it may not have the same effect. |

dustydee:How has Charles personally benefitted you? We pay him rent for everything even for some churches. That was our land in the first place. Communal land . His ancestors stole those lands in the medieval era. The people want their stuff back chikena I have more respect for King Felipe VI of Spain. He arrived to inspect the floods in valencia with the PM. His people pelted them with mud. PM ran off. He stayed and managed to talk to his people, listening to their pain. That's not a king who ll charge above market rates for rent. The windsors are a nasty piece of work. |

missjekyll:I was impressed by King Felipe and Queen Letizia. In fairness to Charles, he also would make such a visit, for optics at the very least - same way Queen Elizabeth visited Grenfell the next day after the fire. However I doubt he and Camilla would have remained as calm and compassionate in the face of the same abuse (Camilla would probably have thrown mud back 😂) One of the reasons why it is extremely dicey to tackle the disproportionate wealth and income of the royal family is that there are other aristocratic families with similar or greater wealth, families who own estates that were historically obtained via potentially dubious means and passed down through generations. An example is the Duke of Westminster who is far wealthier than Charles and owns most of the land in Mayfair. So if the people demanded for the Windsors to return land and properties back to the state, they would need to make the same demand of the Duke and other aristocratic families. That would never happen without a revolution, and the Brits are not known for revolutions - we're more of a keep calm and carry on nation. |

Zahra29:The Brits love their RF. Mainly because it epitomises something the Brits still love more than anything else - class division. And you're right - I don't see the RF or the land-owning classes being tackled in any way any time simply because they have enough inspired defenders who want to keep things the way they are. Look at how difficult it's been for England to deal with the ridiculous leasehold system which is effectively modern-day feudalism, for instance. |

Cyberknight:💯 Another thing the Brits love is pomp and ceremony. And no one in the world does tradition and pomp and ceremony better than the Royal Family. Tourists don't only come to visit the palaces, they also come to witness old traditions and ceremonies such as the changing the guard, and royal events such as weddings always pull a considerable international crowd. |

That feeling of 2016 all over again though this time around it’s mixed, at one hand the dumbest president is about to take to power and in other hands my Tesla shares is going through the roof. Interesting times ahead |

Gerrard59:it's a SMART person's world lobatan. This is an almost 80 year old man, who is able to speak clearly and confidently, as opposed to madam puppet that doesn't even know who she is. This ain't about Trump being a man, or the trite phrase, it's a man's world. It is simply about the fact that of these two alternatives, one clearly stands out as the far far better choice. I want him to win both the electoral college, and the popular vote. That way dishonest media, phony Dems, Obama and everybody else wey just dey hate with nothing better to offer, can finally rest knowing that the majority of Americans have seen through their putrid BS, and have now spoken, DEFINITIVELY. 😎 |

Here we have it folks... TRUMP WINS!!! To all the political (and emotional) analysts saying Trump is a criminal and would only be in jail and not the WH, go and bury your faces in shame. Too much consumption of western propaganda! I say it again, I don't like the guy, but that doesn't take away my objectivity. Banning me or extending my ban won't remove my objectivity or keep me quiet. |

The journey to 2024 should be made into a movie. All the adversity, hate, assassination attempts, oppression that Donald Trump was subjected to. And he pushed through all that, to win in the end. This is historic and significant. Congrats to Donald Oluwafemi Trump, the 47th presido of the United States! |

justwise:The bulk of what you called him died here and never left the corners of the classroom, as he is now the 47th POTUS and have been called worse and even survived more than two assassination attempts. Like you said, interesting times ahead as we look forward to global peace and stability above all. |
