[quote author=nairalanda1 post=132746508]Optimally 18 years is a good age to enter university Some even say that 21 is better. I said what I said. If you like, abuse me. And if you like modify my comment 18-21 is best for university entrance. My friend you can't pull millions of children behind with archaic decisions. If you are a slow developer ' other children shouldn't be made to suffer or wait for you. A 15yr old if fit intellectually, mentally., and physically can go to the university. The harm done in suppressing just 1 genius child is worse that the cumulative risk of allowing over 1 million children go to university at the age of 15 or 16. What this means is that just like in law. It's better for justice not to be serve than sending an innocent person to jail. |

Angelfrost:Yes that is true, but I know of some kids who entered university too early and did not make it. I also know of one guy who entered university at 15, was regarded as a genius and eventually broke down after some years. Also most 15 year olds are not mature enough for university life. Let's not lie to ourselves. |

Zooposki:Sorry,a 15 or 16 year old is not ripe like that. The person you are speaking to has had to help treat some teenagers of that age of the consequences of being thought too ripe. And it is not funny. The person you are speaking to also thinks that no one should get married until they turn 21. But na me be that |

nairalanda1:Very right. 18 is the entry age to universities in most countries abroad |
| Re: Education Minister Alausa Reverses 18-Year Age Limit For Admission by Angelfrost(m): 5:58pm On Nov 05, 2024 |
nairalanda1:You are very correct... That's why I concur on the area of Maturity in character and mental resilience. A lot of parents just want their kids out of the house and will push them just to have the bragging rights that their wards became graduates at a very young age. Still, the system should be properly designed to guide such very young kids, and protect them from pressures and negative influences. Mind you, these same pressures can also pull down much older people. |

Stupid decision. Only mature people should enter universities. All this cult menace will die a natural death and all this professor abuse if the minimum is 18. No one should enter university before 18yrs. |

nairalanda1:The same Obingo that ruined and ran Anambra State aground for 8years. Stop over hyping a serial party defector and Pandora fraudster. This is the true accounts from indigenes and residents of Anambra State when Obingo was a governor. https://www.nairaland.com/870945/what-exactly-peter-obi-doing The same people who criticised him for poor performance and incompetence then turned Obingo messiah overnight because of tribalism. It's only deluded obirodents over hyping their fake messiah. Obingo is a failure in all ramifications |

Men with devil intentions only narrow their competency to tribe. You are the only few we have that still have tribal believe now. The world is a global village that needs competent and intelligent minds to work with and can achieve result. Wake up from ur primordial sentiment. Omoejigbahe: |

| Re: Education Minister Alausa Reverses 18-Year Age Limit For Admission by gaddafe(m): 6:32pm On Nov 05, 2024 |
dododawa1:That is nonsense. The minister, as it stands today cannot reverse that policy. Anybody telling you otherwise is just deceiving you. Nigeria is a corrupt country so even with the existing policy, it will be possible for a kid of twelve years old to be in the university. However, do yourself a favour and pick the recent "National Policy on Education" to check if the age has been reversed. No age has been reversed, so any school that choose to implement that law cannot be faulted. The government can choose to ignore the offence when committed if they like but as it stands. The law is the law. The thing many Nigerians don't even know is that the law was not even made in this administration but in Obasanjo's administration. What this administration wanted to do is enforce it. |

| Re: Education Minister Alausa Reverses 18-Year Age Limit For Admission by gaddafe(m): 6:42pm On Nov 05, 2024 |
nairalanda1:What you said is not only perfectly in order but also the existing law. The minister is just playing with Nigerians if he made that statement. I just checked and the existing Policy on Education remains the same. Whoever is telling them that the age has been reduced is just making a mockery of the intelligence of Nigerians. The age for entering higher institutions remains 18. |
