My friend you can't pull millions of children behind with archaic decisions. If you are a slow developer ' other children shouldn't be made to suffer or wait for you.
A 15yr old if fit intellectually, mentally., and physically can go to the university.


The harm done in suppressing just 1 genius child is worse that the cumulative risk of allowing over 1 million children go to university at the age of 15 or 16. What this means is that just like in law. It's better for justice not to be serve than sending an innocent person to jail.

There really should be no need suppressing the genius of certain young people.

The part that should be given serious priority is the aspect of "Practical or Vocational Education".

You are very correct... That's why I concur on the area of Maturity in character and mental resilience.

A lot of parents just want their kids out of the house and will push them just to have the bragging rights that their wards became graduates at a very young age.

Still, the system should be properly designed to guide such very young kids, and protect them from pressures and negative influences.

Mind you, these same pressures can also pull down much older people.

Stupid decision. Only mature people should enter universities. All this cult menace will die a natural death and all this professor abuse if the minimum is 18. No one should enter university before 18yrs.

That is nonsense. The minister, as it stands today cannot reverse that policy. Anybody telling you otherwise is just deceiving you. Nigeria is a corrupt country so even with the existing policy, it will be possible for a kid of twelve years old to be in the university. However, do yourself a favour and pick the recent "National Policy on Education" to check if the age has been reversed. No age has been reversed, so any school that choose to implement that law cannot be faulted. The government can choose to ignore the offence when committed if they like but as it stands. The law is the law.

The thing many Nigerians don't even know is that the law was not even made in this administration but in Obasanjo's administration. What this administration wanted to do is enforce it.

What you said is not only perfectly in order but also the existing law. The minister is just playing with Nigerians if he made that statement. I just checked and the existing Policy on Education remains the same. Whoever is telling them that the age has been reduced is just making a mockery of the intelligence of Nigerians. The age for entering higher institutions remains 18.
