DatIgalaDude:. Nigeria has up to 7 crude refinery, so why won't an association be formed. Waltersmith. Midstream. Duport Azikiel. Dangote. Edo refinery. African refinery. |

Easy6597:You really got it. They've been importing fuel from Nigeria into Nigeria for several years making millions of dollars monthly through One useless SUBSIDY. I am happy TINUBU removed subsidy from day 1 because he knows that if he refused to announce immediately it may not be possible again If they want to import fuel go and import now at the actual rate of dollars and let the competition be aggressive |

wirinet:Do you live in Nigeria? Buhari blocked the borders and outlawed the importation of rice through land borders, Tinubu sustained that same policy. Isn’t that FG backing and supporting local production? Rice was cheap, then it went through the roof eventually (local rice o). I can’t remember the last time I saw imported rice in the open market (asides basmati). You totally miss my point which is that local producers lengthen the distribution chain which leads to increase in price (it’s either the producers or retailers are the problem or both). I’m not against FG’s support for local producers it I’m against same producers exploiting the masses through the support they receive (in policy, funding and otherwise) |

My submission. Let them import the substandard product first, let’s see. I see no reason why Dangote should sell his product above 500 naira. One of the merit of local production and why it is encouraged is that the selling price will be lower compare to when importing same product, that is if the imported one is not substandard. Also, because we have seen that Dangote loves monopoly which is not benefiting Nigerians, going by the precedence. Then we need importation now that we only have Dangote as the only local refiner. Let there be competition. |

wirinet:With all this irreconcilable jargon you listed, you want to defend Dangote for selling Crude Oil above the International price when his cost of labour is cheaper and he now buys crude in naira? May I remind you that Globacom sold a Starter pack for one naira while MTN sold theirs at N50,000 on inception? Dangote took BUA to court because he tried to sell cement at a cheap price and this is the monopolistic regime you want to support with a price hike. Dangote should understand that all Nigerians were denied forex and he took everything to build the refinery hence we all are stakeholders. |

wirinet:Whoever is the seller doesn't know who the buyer is fronting or representing. It's an open market, with bidders (unknown buyers) and sellers (Banks, individuals and corporations) |

Dangote should calm down his bid to monopolize the sector. Since when did we have refiners association in Nigeria? Other modular refineries do not produce pms, only dpk, ago, etc |
| Re: Refiners Oppose Petrol Import Licences To IPMAN, PETROAN by frazee: 7:58am On Nov 10, 2024 |
How can a group be called refiners when they don't refine shit with exception of dangote... I guess the group is dangote.... if your product is good and affordable you need not be scared of competition... dangote is fighting seriously to monopolise this sector.... |
| Re: Refiners Oppose Petrol Import Licences To IPMAN, PETROAN by elbangeez: 8:04am On Nov 10, 2024 |
We have many refineries in Nigeria. But most of them are modular refineries with small refining capacity, google it Dawn91: |

Proudlyngwa:I think there should be trade-off between quality fuel and cheap fuel. In most developed countries there are fuel grades with their prices. In Nigeria, regulators are not doing enough to monitor qualities of fuel imported. Aside, we don't have control over price at international market and some majority oil marketer are not patriotic. Nigerians never had advantage of benefitting from cheaper price when oil price is relatively low at the international market. Some will sell old stock at current price. A lot of issues affecting the oil sector. |

The FG is supposed to have issued an executive order by now protecting our local refining industry. If it were in India, such order would have been issued long ago. |

God bless you, people dont know that most of these oil marketers have fleet of shipping vessels for importing refined products, tank farms for storing their products which sometimes leased to government for some huge amount, . With dangote refinery coming onboard, their vessels, tank farms, depots will all be shut down which automatically leads them to bankrupcy. Their only lifeline in this game is importation and they will fight it with their last blood. Any Nigerian who doesnt support dangote to eradicate these leeching cabals is an enemy of this great Nation. heysquare: |

YOOR:That is why they should be allowed to import A Dye system can be used to differentiate which fuel is which, as well as a cradle to grave system. Anywhere they want to source their funds for import let them source, they should not request for concession that is all am concerned about |

Believeintruth:We are all educated and finding the price of refine products is something we can get on internet. If truly it's cheaper to import why countries like South Africa, Ghana and other African countries are negotiating to seal import deal with Dangote? Otedola knew this would happened he quickly sold his tank farm and all his oil assets he had even advised all these tank farm owners to go and sell it as scrap. Gonner the days we hate anything china products because we don't believe in it as its not of quality but today we embrace it due to the improvement. When start dissociating from foreign products more companies will grow and new one will spring up especially foreign companies. We should stop blaming govt if we failed to support local businesses to grow. |

We nigerians will be complaining that the dollars is rising..the naira is depreciating .. dollars exchange rate is 1725 naira to a dollar.. what is causing it..it's Importation...Importation devalues and deprecriates the naira against the dollars which causes inflation and high costs of living as nigerians are going through now |
| Re: Refiners Oppose Petrol Import Licences To IPMAN, PETROAN by jaxxy(m): 8:42am On Nov 10, 2024 |
Who are the refiners? Refiners and importers are different entities in the old industry sectors and play dual competitive role in an open market system. There is no way an Importer must be only a refiner. |

iLoveYouToo:i will like to play the devil's advocate local producers might appear to be evil But the devil in center of it all is the govt whose policies make cost of running business in Nigeria. On food items transported to south for instance, all manners of extortion sorted is why most of the sellers have no choice but hike price And lets be reasonable here, with the present cost of living, everyone is using what they have to stay afloat and survive, E.g a fufu seller will pay rent enter transport, change cloth, how will she meet up if she no join hike price point of correction: imported goods are more expensive than local products , except you have examples |
