Many poor students have still not applied for student loan simply because they hate Bola Tinubu, yet they often rush to the internet to compare Nigeria with countries in Europe and America, unknown to them that many students study on loan in these countries. Na waa ooo |

Dbakre1:My cousin's son is in a university not far from me and he comes to spend a few days with me when he is off school. I told his father about the student loan and free N20,000 per month scheme and suggested his son apply. He was not that interested. He's a PDP activist, though I don't know if that explains his disinterest. Yet, his brilliant son struggles to maintain himself in school due to financial stress ![]() Ah well. I am happy to see the Northerners are the leading applicants for the scheme. Those ones don't joke with government freebies. Good for them. Southerners can do what they like. |

MarketDispatch:I would not recommend anyone apply for loans at this point in time given the state of the economy, and the fact that these loans mature in only 2 years— or was it upon graduation —after which those of them still without employment than would have shege to face at the hands of loan collectors. And these people can be as brutal as Lagos agberos in their dealings. ![]() |

I wont be surprised if some of these students still scammed their parents and collected tuition money. I wonder how the govt will ensure the colleges are not collecting for withdrawn students, admitted but not enrolled and so on. Lots may be going on underground. Kemadealadire:For most you say? Do u realize many people couldn't go to universities because they couldn't afford it? Does it fit into ur theory of "affordable for most"? The number of students in Nigerian universities are more than those in Nigerian universities 10 years ago, so if it was affordable for most according to ur Iow grade bràiñ, how comes many people couldn't get tertiary education then? |

| Re: 105,844 Students From 98 Institutions Benefiting From FG's Student Loan Program by DeLaRue: 7:01pm On Nov 12, 2024 |
MarketDispatch:The government has put no limit on the number of students who can access the loan and the free N20,000 monthly payments. The Agency in charge say they have disbursed about N11 billion so far, yet I believe they have over N50 billion available for this year. So there is money available. The government can't force people to apply if they don't want to. The Agency has done a lot of sensitisation in various institutions, on radio, and TV. It is up to people to apply if they want. |

Under the scheme, in addition to the government paying your school fee directly to your school, the government also pays you FREE N240,000 per year (N24k per month). So even when a student is on holiday, he will still receive the monthly payments. Yet, some Southerners still see no good in the policy...as long as it is from Tinubu government. Ok na. |

JagabanBorgu:You are not mentally okay for me to keep going back and forth with if you don't know school fees was way affordable for most compared to now. Some of your leaders you are doing supporters club for, even enjoyed free schooling and all. As at 14, 15years ago, school fees was around 12k in most Federal universities, go and find out how much it has increased to now after scattering the economy. Your next argument will be, it was heavily subsidised then. See, I don't have previous time or data to waste on slow people, my last response to you, political ediot. |

Wizzy13:Do you know of others who equally applied, were approved, and have received theirs in that same school? ![]() Also, what plan do you have in place to pay back then loan when it is due for you to pay it back? Given the state of the Nigerian economy, taking out a loan at this point in time is highly risky particularly a loan for education that does not guarantee you anything at the end of the road. So, what is your particular plan to ensure that you will have money to pay back the loan? ![]() |

Kemadealadire:U are too steewpîd to be engaged in a discussion in the first place. 14, 15 years ago has lesser number of students in higher institutions than now, where does ur affordability theory comes from? Are u this dàft? As 30 years ago people struggled to pay tuition fees of less than 10k, are this f00Ish? If u are so great why don't get a political office to solve everything where tuition fees will be 2k per person? I forgot, u are too dàft to win an election even in ur street. We are talking about the bigger picture and how events are playing out and u are f00Iish to be talking about 14 15 years ago, which society in the world will u see tuition fees from 14 15 years that's same today? U Iots are too dàft to reason that's why u think it's about "supporter's club". |

Pickmycall:Can you see the mentality of an average Nigerian. Because it's public fund then it should be gift. All over the world students in need take loans to fund their education and repay after graduation. The old Nigerian mind is filled with free this, free that. Subsidy this and subsidy that. |
