I have always believed in this regime and their team. I'll be very disappointed if they don't perform. So far so good even though it has been very painful. |

004gist:We have billionaires, we have them in numbers.. all we need is to call out billionaires to order and give then guarantees of safe investment if they invest in critical sector.. That is exactly what Jonathan do with dangote concerning the refinery... Foreign investment leaves ur economy vunerable to shocks and foreign policy decision ... Also huge capital flight loss... I repeat, we don't need foreign investment... I am still waiting for ur reason for need of foreign investment |

Abass07:I have always of the opinion that the yearly remittance of Nigerians in Diaspora was more than enough to meet the country's yearly FX requirement. Now that IMTO has been put in place, next will be to start monitoring daily transfers from the bank's domiciliary accounts. With these two reforms, I expect the naira-to Dollar exchange rate to come down substantially. I am pegging to around 650 to 800 bands. |

| Re: Nigeria’s FX Reserves Hit $40.08bn, First Time Since 2022 by 9jatriot(m): 6:33pm On Nov 12, 2024 |
This was the main reason GEJ lost my support. He depleted the foreign reserve, he also depleted the ECA or sovereign wealth funds, all when oil was selling at all time high. That ECA/ sovereign own pain me well well, because I knew what OBJ was trying to achieve with those funds. Those funds was supposed to serve as a buffer when oil prices fluctuate to help create some sort of stability. That was how the concept of oil price benchmark came to be. kunle4toyeyaho: |

004gist:See...? That is why u never read macro economics by jinhgan... In his book, he tried his best to explain two different policies separate from each other, one is for developed economies, while the other is for developing economies.... U are being carried away by the term foreign investment, except in of course u mean portfolio investment... But as for real investment, the natives are supposed to actively take part... Talk about investment in ur reply, but u never said why it must b a foreign one |

blacksam01:Even great China ensures their country are attractive to foreign investors attracting investors from America, Europe who moves there to set up firm produced goods with cheap labour and ship it back to western countries.. India is now replicating such model. Elon musk Gigafactory the third largest ... The Tesla Shanghai Co is located in China. Imagine tesla decides to site one factory in Nigeria to produce electric cars with estimated investments running over 50 billion dollars then shipped this cars to rest of the world The 50 billion dollars investments alone will be felt by almost alm sectors in the economy directly and indirectly. Then lets say the factory is sited in ekiti state. The taxes that will be paid to ekiti state government will be enough to develop the state. In rivers state recently the government said it stopped payments of federal allocations to the state but river state didn't shake... At least they get taxes from multinational oil company operating in the state. |
