The Nigerian National Petroleum Company limited, NNPCL, has disclosed that it’s a proud part-owner of the Dangote Refinery.

This was disclosed by NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari at a conference hosted by the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists in Lagos on Monday.

Following the commencement of the refinery, Aliko Dangote had accused NNPCL and some cabals in the oil sector of trying to sabotage its operations.

However, Kyari dismissed the claims that NNPCL was undermining the operations of the Dangote refinery.

He said: “The point is very far from it and I’m going to speak to it straight. We are very proud part-owners of Dangote refinery, no doubt about it.

“We saw an opportunity that there is a clear market for at least 300,000 barrels of our production; we know that as time moves on, people will start struggling to find markets for their production.

“It will happen, It’s already happening. Oil is found, as you know, in many unexpected locations across the world and people have choices.

“Therefore we saw an opportunity to log supply to the domestic refinery, not just Dangote but any other refinery that operates in the country, so it was a very informed business decision.”

Confusion everywhere

Dangote Refinery has shown to us what corruption does to a country.

APC that promised to fix our refineries failed for the past 9 years but if you see how they lashed at PDP ehn

So owner and part owner de fight for public eh? Dangote and NNPC going back and forth is because the arrangement is not in the interest of Nigerians.

Shame on APC , shame on PDP, shame on Nigerian governments for failing to fix our refineries. Shame on you all. You are disgraceful and not worth that position you were privileged to have. angry

I have my own refinery that isn’t even productive, despite spending billions of dollars on turnarounds maintenance.

I have the capacity to build new ones within two years.

But: NO!

I'd rather be a part-owner with someone I know I'm far better than.

It has done on him that this is a lost battle. So if you can't beat "him", it's better to join him.

Is it today he knows that he is part owner of dangote and he kept importing to frustrate the business that he is a part owner?.

He claimed dangote petrol is too expensive, if I were him I will display both dangote's petrol and the cheap petrol In all of NNPC filling station then allow Nigerians choose the one they prefer.

But no, they started behaving like little winch.
