Add Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Gambia and Mauritania to the list. Players from these countries now have European exposures and so their level of football awareness has greatly improved.

Even the likes of Senegal, Mali, Angola and Guinea were minnows in the 1980 and 90s.

The number of Offsides Osimhen was caught in Yesterday was so awful for a player of such calibre. He obviously has not improved from this downside of his game.

like I also notice of recent you hardly see him on camera even in camp. Nacho was like the funny guy and chorus leader in the team. Senior man might be going tru alot.

Yes i agree, but note one thing these guys may be minnows but wont wanna keep living in those name tag “minnow”
comoros ousted Ghana from the afcon, CAR has beaten many top countries(Algeria,Egypt,Nigeria).
Lesotho waking up…in the next 10/15yrs teams like sao tome, south sudan,Erithrea, mauritius will also start proving a point.

Stanley Nwabali lost his dad a few hours before the match against Benin republic, he literally played through bereavement! My respect for Stanley just went up a thousand more times.

RIP to his dad 🕊

I swear to God, I told the man behind me today, I suspected the rain for this performance, cuz it was awful.. At one point I stood up :[ Bad passes everywhere. Benin actually played better of the two teams.

Lookman no lookman today at all, then the same man told me he expected it, say Lookman can't hide again, he Don blow so he was marked. Ekong awful pass upandan. Again, I'm blaming the rain and the slippery pitch.

Today game was definitely one of the bad game. Thank God for Moses and Victor.
It made the players too cautious.

And notice it was when Osimhen was out with the injury scare and the players weren't certain of what was happening that Benin scored.

I strongly disagree with this. Onyedika and Iwobi easily play together alongside another MF partner.

From your take, you are replacing Iwobi with Bashiru and Bashiru is no final ball expert or chance creator. He is a shooter and BTL AM.

Kog45:
Onyedika need to replace Iwobi.... AE should give us Onyeka-Onyedika-Bashiru

Kenya are not minnow in the 80s,in fact they made Afcon 88 and i do not think Yekini had any goal against Madagascar, Comoros, Lesotho, CAR, Equitorial Guinea and Rwanda cuz it was not easy then in the 80s for these teams to face bigger teams due to strictly CAF features.

A well widespreads features would have seen Yekini scoring more than 37 goals but anyhow Osimhen is going to beat that record with ease.

South Africa came into the party late in 1991 due to aparthied but fast forward they won Afcon 96,meaning they are not amateurs....yes we beat SA, 4-0 in Lagos but return leg was war and it ended 1-1

Someone that pulled off another long arm throw in the same Benin game afterwards? Please rest.

We have seen Courtois, Valdes, Cech, Allison, Ederson all make blunders and it didn't affect their base psyche. They all went on to be among the best in their roles.

Nwabali just lost his dad. Condole with him.

Doctor, make we see Onyeka-Onyedika-Bashiru.... Iwobi and Ndidi should rest.
Those midfield trio should start against Rwanda in a midfield 3, enough of the 2 man midfield especially with flat-footers like Ndidi and Iwobi who are at best sub players at this point. The Rwandan game pretty much a dead rubber game so we need to give Bashiru-Onyedika-Onyeka a chance to build some chemistry.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 9:58am On Nov 15, 2024
Iwobi tends to struggle in a 2 man midfield and worse when paired with anyone not named Frank Onyeka. Always finds himself playing deeper and he is no natural DLP amd neither is he a midfield metronome (Onyedika is).

Even at the Afcon, Onyeka was the main engine of that middle due to the Conservative ultra defensive style we employed using counters as our way to hit opponents. Iwobi's shine was subdued but he worked hard.

When we on the front foot in games with the game moving through Iwobi in advanced areas, Iwobi shines. Iwobi is that kind of chance creator who excels in receiving between the lines in the final third or in the advanced half spaces from where he can create final pass damage or link up for a shot creating action.

Iwobi in a 3 man midfield with him more advanced shines more than he does in a 2 man midfield where he has to play deeper.

Yeah Maduka should have started in goal, except Nwabali needed the game to burn off some pain by giving AE a thumbs up to start...he did well considering the circumstances.

Osimhen has worked with some top coaches, I believe they all has seen it. Trying to work on it now might be counterproductive, it might affect his reaction time

Seeing them as a tactical midfield 3 option is fine but I already know the Onyeka-Onyedika-Iwobi will be a lot more balanced than the OOB.

Kog45:
Doctor, make we see Onyeka-Onyedika-Bashiru.... Iwobi and Ndidi should rest.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Mujtahida: 10:11am On Nov 15, 2024
Oganigwe:
Our midfield trio should be Onyedika, Onyeka and Dele-Bashiru...play Iwobi from the wing if he has to start or bench him. Eguavoen gaffed big time by starting Iheanacho and even more baffling that he played him from the wing! like what kind of self-sabotage is that? Ndidi offers us nothing, just another pedestrian player living off on "experienced player" tax.

I'm sorry but players like Ndidi, Iheanacho, and Sadiq have absolutely no business in the NT! Ojediran of Lens is looking like a exciting prospect, why not just give players like that a chance? Vince Osuji is balling in Sweden top flight football, why not give the kid a chance? I'll even take Ariehi over Iheanacho right now at this point- at least he's one for the future.

Aina sef dey Bleep up these days, he needs serious competition in that position and Osayi doesn't inspire much confidence. So why can't NFF try players like Kingsley Ehibizue, Felix Agu and Kayode from Fiorentina? Osimhen and Moses Simon keep carrying this team but for how long can we keep depending on their individual brilliance to bail us out... Nwabali sef needs to stop letting media hype get into his head and calm down. Lookman is really trying but he was so isolated and crowded out with no options available for those lay-offs.

The only positives today were Bruno Onyemaechi (solid baller), Simon Moses and Onyedika to some extent. The rest were absolutely gash. Lots of work and revamping needs to be done going forward and NFF have to come out clear and decide who our coach is after the Rwandan game, if it's Eguavoen then announce him as the substantive coach and find tactically sound assistants to support him (if possible bring back Siasia into the coaching fold).

I hate to say this but I'll gladly take Rohr back if he decides to try his redemption arc with us, his football wasn't pretty on the eyes but he made us play very effective and pragmatic football.
Stone inside delicious rice, that's how I describe your write up and the last paragraph.
