I surely understand the frustrations with Iwobi. I have them too. It is why I had really hoped Nwakali came good or was given a shot at some point. But Iwobi is all we've got at this point in time from a creative POV. Akinsanmiro is still growing but I also think he should be given a shot. Until they look his way, Iwobi is all we have. Bashiru is not your creative CAM-type... he is a shooter. A scoring MF type who will break the lines with his running, do linkup passes up top and drive into space to receive and strike or lay a simple final ball. With Iwobi, it is frustrating because he has not had actual competition for his profile for years now. And this is due to the coaches refusing to invite similar player profiles who could give Iwobi a run for his money. So it is okay to see OOB but don't expect Bashiru to do any incisive creative shit. He is not that profile. He's built different. Kog45: |

One player in the SE that has really impressed me since coming on-board is Bruno Onyemachi, this dude is good, what a tackle to take that ball off the toes of the Benin player which could have resulted in the 2nd goal! Moses Simon did it again, what an inch perfect cross for Osigoal among 3 defenders with brilliant movement that resulted in that goal Simon is a gem in the SE, a silent achiever though doesn't score too many goals but creates many. The pressure was more on Benin but AE should start looking seriously into our defence and AMF more, create more competition for positions, no guaranteed shirt for anybody in these 2 depts. Kudos to the boys for a job well done, the rain didn't help good flow of passes but we got away with a draw. |

TheSuperNerd:For a minute yesterday, I felt we sold the match because of Rohr because Benin were all over us. AE should learn from yesterday's game. 1. Never play Iwobi and Ndidi in a 3-5-2 pattern. Ndidi gases out easily unlike Onyeka. Iwobi plays too deep 2. Never leave Moses Simon on bench again 3. Iheanacho has lost it. Should not be invited anymore. 4. Let's now see Maduka Okoye in goal against Rwanda 5. Aina is always overworked or stressed out in 3-5-2. |

aicon4s:I don't blame him. Na goal he wan score. I think Marco Van Basten suggestion that the offside rule should be dispensed with is making some bit of sense to me. Go back and watch old football. You will not see this nonsense of keeping a high line compressing the field of play and contributing to the side ways passing that has come to dominate modern football. Cos if you play direct football, you'd be caught in the offside trap. A mediocre coach with mediocre but disciplined players will manipulate space and even without touching the ball, they will make you suffer and possibly defeat you. It's high time football is rescued from the hands of coaches and put back into the hands of players. It shall not be well with Gaurdiola for what he did to football. He destroyed this beautiful game. From jogo bonito, it has become jogo jogodo |

Bruno Onyemaechi is yet to drop a bad game for Nigeria and it is impressive. Bruno plays like a left fullback who reminds me of how Chidi Ordiah operated on the right as a RB. Bruno truly is a standout and deserves his flowers. Makes me not miss Zaidu so much at all. oloriooko: |

In the first half, the Cheetah's pressed on our defence. They kept on attacking our 3-man back-line that you will truly wonder if there was one screening or shielding the defence. They easily went through our midfield, thereby exposing the CBs to a barrage of attacks throughout the first half. When things like this happens, the coach should react by throwing in combative, distributive and scoring midfielders. Bashiru and Onyedika should have entered the game in the beginning of the second half to complement Ndidi. Ralph's introduction stabilised our midfield and not our reversing to a midfield three. Ahead of the start of the WC qualifiers where we need to win all our games and not our usual home win, away draw. Bashiru and Onyedika must start in our midfield. The pair are the only midfielders that can get us goals when the going gets tough and our forwards are being marked, doubled or tripled upon whenever they have the ball. Any of our line-up going forward or in a competitive game must have these two scorers in mid-field with Simon completing our attack. Throw all your scoring guns in our next WC qualifiers. Should we go with a 3-4-3, Simon starts alongside Lookman and Osimhen but must come from the left because that's his most effective position. In a 4-2-4 which best suits both Simon and Lookman and makes our team more balanced and stable. Ndidi starts alongside Onyedika in a double pivot. Bashiru starts on the Right side since he is left footed, and should be made to drift into the midfield occasionally i.e playing as both RW and CAM. Simon plays the LW. Osimhen and Lookman leads the attack or Osimhen leads the attack while Lookman plays as a support striker in a 4-4-1-1 i.e just behind the main striker. Simon,Raph and Bashiru have no business on Super Eagles bench. They should henceforth be part of all Super Eagles subsequent starting XI. This is the only way for us to make it to the 2026 WC after missing the previous edition. |

EEGA:You will be a very bad coach We are all shouting that a 2 man midfield isn't working, you are still here proposing it. What's Ndidi and Onyedika as our pivot midfielders in a match? What's Bashiru playing as a RW because he is left footed? And who told you the SE didn't reverted to a 3 man midfield when Onyedika came in? Onyedika came in for Osho who is a defender and our 3 man midfield became Ndidi, Onyedika and Iwobi. There is no much talks, AE should stop playing 3 defenders because it's not working for him. He should be playing 433 instead Nwabali Aina Ekong Bassey Bruno Ndidi/Onyeka Onyedika Iwobi/Bashiru Lookman Osimhen Simon Or Lookman can play a SS to Osimhen, why Chukwueze takes the RWF position. Personally I will prefer a midfield 3 of Onyeka (a workaholic), Onyedika (a decent CM), and Bashiru (a scoring AM). With this 3 man midfield, we won't lack power, control on the midfield and a scoring midfielder to compliment our attackers |
