We still have policy contentions coming. For instance, when DOGE come with their recommendations, the Senate will push back.
He has to pick his battles.

That said, I appreciate that Johnson and Thune are leaving all options on the table.
There's still like 60 days to go. So there should be some horse trading, dialog, and deal making before the confirmation process begins.

Gaetz as AG will be so cool though. I'd have taken Paxton. But I'm sure they'd protest that pick as well.

I keep telling peeps to watch out how Trump fills 99.9% of his cabinet picks. This isn't 2017 where turtleneck Mitch and Rino Ryan stood on his way. Trump will use all means necessary to get people he trusts to work with him just like a 3D chess.
