Nzeogwu was ready to remove the northern region from the south and declare their independence when he saw that the coup had failed. It was one of the bargaining chips he had with Ironsi. He asked for liniency for his men, and further compensations to those that were hurt by their actions. These demands in a way handicapped Ironsi. Ironsi needed time to understand the complete situation of things. He could not have just killed the coup plotters within that short period.

Azikiwe's presidency had no constitutional power.
He was just an errand boy to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa..
It was that frustration that made him connived with Ironsi and other Ibo soldiers to murder his fellow politicians from other ethnic groups.

The woman did a fantastic job. I know because some years ago I had to help my father with his pension. I was amazed!!! The professionalism and courtesy to pensioners (at least at the Lagos office) was like no other govt agency I had been to.
