Newlymarried:It's a whole lot of professional mismanagement put together. She could have been rescued if all processes were put in place. Scan report should of course tell the size and location of the fibroid and then location for the surgeon's cut through. Probably the less experienced surgeons worked on her. It's just unfortunate it had happened with her. Things happen and we know they could also be well managed. No be lack of blood or lack of other necessities,na absolute negligence on the part of the senior officers surgeons. God help us prevent further occurrence. |

bjay13:You aren't far from the truth my friend. Hospitals should stop engaging young and inexperienced doctors with high profile surgery. Most of these young doctors still treat with textbook and Google by Thier side, I witnessed this countless times in their offices. They treat using Google information and textbooks, one even opened Google with his phone in my front. In my mind, I was like, what's d need coming to source explanation from u for a laboratory text I just carried out, I could Google it myself as well, afterall I graduated as a microbiologist. . Human lives are not motor or bike you do experiment on, these are people's fathers and mother's, breadwinners of different home whose untimely death will affect a lot of people that look up to them. Our country is finished! |

omoadeleye:I think the woman died due to excessive blood loss. And yes the hospital needs the Husband's permission to remove the fibroid, the reason why she was there was to deliver baby through CS if there is any other operation to be done the hospital needs permission to carry it out. |

Honeydenz:Ignorance at its peak. No doctor should be comfortable to treat a patient without easy access to latest guidelines. In medicine, there is something we call treatment guidelines. They change everyday. For example, you can use both Azithromycine and doxicycline to treat chlamydia STD but the latest guideline is that doxicycline must be the first line. Medicine is now evidence based. We use guidelines and not google. All over UK and Australia , most hospital computer are subscribed to latest guidelines to help their doctors cross check the latest guideline. If you think Google is what we are talking about, you don't know anything about medicine.. |

helpee:I sight one of them. Oga medical doctor, just like business and everything else in life, you need time and experience to excel in it. Don't tell me about guidelines, that sound petty. So what happens what you were taught in school? The anatomy practicals, the first aid and all? What about our doctors of 90s and 80s that treated better with little or no access to internet information (Sorry, Guidelines!!!) ![]() |

Honeydenz:Everything you wrote here reeks quackery and Ignorance. You don't know anything about modern day medicine. I don't practice in Nigeria. Where i practice, you must crosscheck everything. You crosscheck the drug interactions online , cross check the latest guideline, cross xheck the most sensitive antibiotic for that disease at the moment. What you learnt five years ago in medical school in outdated. You need latest guideline every single day and you have to be a doctor to understand the guideline you are looking for anyway. I left medical school about 20 years ago. Many things we were taught in school that time are now considered dangerous, ineffective or completely outdated. There is a website called UPTODATE. Almost every hospital in several developed nations subscribed to it so the doctors can cross check latest guidelines. In Australia, every hospital is subscribed to TGA where the doctors can crosscheck medications in real time. There are patients on 15 medications from different specialties. You also want to add your own medication. You go on.these websites to check wether your drug will interact with these drugs. They may be latest drugs that even came out less than a year ago so.checking guidelines has nothing to do with anatomy and physiology. You are just talking like a regular ignorant Nigerian that dabbles into discussions they know nothing about. Next time you see a doctor cross checking your treatment with guideline , thank your star you are being treated by a safe professional. |
