Not qualifying for World cup in 2006 was more of Christian Chukwu issue and NFF should also partly take the blame, for taking that game to Kano, when most of the players were foreign based, who were not used to playing in such high temperature as Kano's. I recall Angola managing to secure a draw against us in Kano, and that was were it went wrong. Austin Eguavoen was brought in for the last two games of the qualifying series and he won both, one of them 5:2 away to Algeria. However, it was too late, as Angola advanced on the head-to-head rule, despite our superior goal difference and equal points.

ChrisKels:
Fun fact. We have only failed to qualify for the world cup twice since our debut in 1994.

We did not qualify in 2006 and in 2022. The Super Eagles manager both times was Austin Eguavoen.

Cc Otite Dafe

Will Eguavoen break the jinx this time?

It now makes sense maybe he was partially unfit during those games because it couldn’t be the same boniface I watched last season at leverkusen

What else will I say? I tagged Libyan the brainbox of the issue.

People carry what is in their mind and refuse to grasp the simple message of the person.

It was never about defending Libyans but us improving and handling protocol issues better.

You can make your point without being abusive.

What you're typing here has not addressed my point. That is why you are resorting to abuse.

I have been on this for so long. Even before all these started.

You see these guys. Boniface, Osimhen, Onyedika, Iwobi etc. I have deep genuine passionate love for them.

I not anyone else tagged the Libyan incident an attempted m*rder for a reason.

I am disgusted with their inhumanity.

However more concerned with our own lapses. The NFF acknowledged that they expected hitches at Libya and flew those boys into such a zone. With no diplomatic effort to quell the expected hitches.

Have you asked yourself why the NFF expected hitches?

Have you studied the reports and videos to see if there were really lapses?

No.

I did this because of my passion for the team. Unfortunately, the NFF details are always shrouded with secrecy.

Most of you abusing me have never suggested any analytical perspective to what happened in Libya. Just riding on media waves.

I am yet to understand your grievances. Why are you people so hurt because I can't see it.

They are both similar in the sense that they can play in a two man attack or top 9 roles.

Both rely on physicality and direct play that is less about guile but about brute strength.

Where Osimhen trumps Awoniyi is dominant aerial presence, pace, and work rate. I always feel if Taiwo losses a couple of pound his movement will be much of smoother.

THE NFF EXPECTED HITCHES, did not take any proactive step to quell the situation. No teaching out to the government of Libya that they were flying to the EXPECTED HITCHES. No communication with the ministry foreign affairs to enable some diplomatic solution.

But what concerns you is to abuse me.

Thank you. Look for better abuses.

Akwa Ibom State Government had already spent millions to host the Libyan team. The NFF were aware the Libyans were financially strapped. They did nothing but you don't feel there is a lapse in that.

Your problem is abusing me for feeling that we could do better and there were contingency measures we would have pulled to get them to the host State that was bearing the brunt of the costs.

You are angry that I suggested that at least the NFF, if they could not get support from Fed. Ministry of Sports, could have tried networking for support.

an outsider looking at his argument today would think he was accusing the nff of a legitimate fault but no!, his grouse with the nff is that they did not pay out of pocket for a plane for the Libyans to move from port Harcourt to uyo. It really makes me laugh anytime the Libya situation comes up.

Their playing styles is actually the same, one is just better at it than the other.
1. Both can play with their backs to goal, hold up play ... Your classical target man no 9s
2. Have you seen Osimhen or Awóníyì doing legovers for instance? grin.. both don't give a shit about flair, just beat your man anyway, anyhow and shoot... Directness.
3. Both are penalty box predators and both can dominate defenders physically on the ground and in the air.

Osimhen just does these things far better than Awóníyì.
That's why I think it's a like for like.
However you can educate me on why you think their styles are not the same, maybe I'm wrong.

Boniface however is a complete opposite of these things.
In a tactical setup with a "target man" striker in mind, substituting your target man for a different profile of striker in-match will not work most of the time, except you've had time to work on tactical adaptations for when a particular player comes on, which I don't think National team coaches will have time to do in the 3 or 4 training sessions they typically have before matches

Or find a way to get them there. They were stranded. Come on. Is it not Super Eagles we fly in and out for games? Do you know how many frivolous events States fly in dignitaries in and out of their State. Let alone a stranded National team that had a match with the Super Eagles.

Not only that. I have also pointed no proof of communication to quell any bad blood after the situation.

When our players were trapped in Libya, the Foreign affairs minister did not have a protocol response which should have been in place hence the NFF anticipated hitches.

Is it not the same NFF that said they offered the Libyans buses and they rejected. Does that not blow holes into you guys idea that the NFF should not do anything?

I am talking about lapses on our end. You guys are offering nothing to the table.

NFF said the Libyans airborne requested for buses. Later the NFF said they rejected their buses, don't you see a hole in that?

Doing like if NFF members are some saints. Same people that left Oliseh's CHAN team in South Africa without food or water. Same NFF that left Manu Garba's second U17 team starving. Same NFF that sent Amunike's conquering U17 to a World Cup without kits.

this is the reason you are siding with the Libyans, sympathizing, for a better word. Due to your lack of trust in nff, you are throwing all forms of logic to the wind not minding how you look defending your point. Imagine saying the nff should have looked for a way to fly Libya from port Harcourt ( which was libya's responsibility) and saying that the bus they offered in it's stead was not good enough. You are not changing your stance because you already have an immovable bias against the nff that is blocking the logical part of your brain. A scenario where the nff are not the bad guys does not exist in your head. Nigeria's plane was diverted in Libya? Blame the nff for not preparing ahead for the possibility of the plane being diverted from original destination. I get it now. You should have said it in the first place so this discussion wouldn't have gone this far.

The fact that you are even guessing makes it ridiculous.
Bro you are the only one seeing lapses because the Nfa was magnanimous enough to even offer them buses.
Our 2016 Olympic male team was stranded because our nfa was financially strapped, not even the IOC or the country host the Olympic could come to their aid.
But you want our nfa to provide flight, then maybe next time provide them with playing kit and jersey

You are filling it with assumptions and just making a simple point long.

From the NFF statements, there were lapses. It needs clarification so it should not happen again. Forget my bias. It is about the players' safety, not mine.

Why could we not support to convey the Libyans to Uyo?

You guys answer.

I am not condoning Libya in anyway. I have made that clear repeatedly. No action of ours justified what they did. So leave sympathy and defend.

Why could the NFF not support the Libyan team to Uyo? You guys answer.

Leave the magnanimous talk. We were hosting this team in Ibom Tropicana resort. We were feeding them expensive meals three times a day. All that was carried by the Akwa Ibom State Government. So conveying them was not going to be a tumultuous tasks.

So what went wrong? I am glad you see nothing wrong with it. That is why I pointed it out. So what went wrong. Why couldn't we help?

If you are saying we should not care, then we can see where the problem is and why we should fix it. We should care.
