Swears. Had to come out of retirement and pulled funds to invest. I don't see the naira depreciating to N2,200 a dollar within the next one

Prayer is for this bonanza to continue well into the coming year.
Same here , I'm betting heavily on the Naira right now , the rate is too good to ignore and I don't see the Naira getting battered in the nearest future.

30% level.. Itsrm how far.
CBN is doing well. Closest we've had to rate of inflation. There's really less incentive to stock up USD in the short term.

Someone said there will be auction for 1st quarter 2025 this year and I think he's right.

563bn will be maturing on the 5th of December and 256bn one week later.

The 1st quarter 2025 calendar is not officially out but there is likely to be an auction on the 4th of December. Keep an eye on this space, further updates will be given as soon as it becomes official

Good evening to all the gurus in the house.

I will be very grateful if anyone can kindly explain why Zenith bank did not charge the 10% withholding tax from the interest proceed of the primary market purchase on 20th November 2024, using a personal (and not company) account, in contrast to Sterling bank that deducted the 10% withholding tax on the proceed of the Treasury bills purchase, also via a personal bank account. Many thanks.

You don't need 50m+ to get yield of 29%
You cannot get a yield of 29% with less than 50m and I stand to be corrected.

You can't even bid in the primary market with less than 50m.

If you think otherwise, drop the name of the bank and location of the branch where you conducted the txn and I will go there to verify for the house

It will be deducted after maturity

please what bank?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Itsrm(m):
koreanlord:

Stanbic, First Bank. Stanbic for the best rates (bid may be unsuccessful).

Fbns bid hardly ever fails. Rate is also likely to be lower because they are usually conservative. Last auction ended at 23.5% with bids between 22-28%.

Fbn managed to get in their bid at 22% which is the lowest of the range. This translates to yield of 28.2%.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by vanvickie(m): 7:52pm On Nov 25, 2024
Hi guys, please can you bid in the primary market with an amount less than 50m and go with whatever rate the bank is bidding? Or your funds must be 50m+ B4 u can participate in primary market

When investing, they provide 22% of your initial investment (X) upfront. Effectively, you invest (X - 22% of X).

At the end, you receive back your initial X. This means you've earned 22% of X on a reduced investment base.

The key calculation is: 22% ÷ (1 - 22%) = 28%.

This formula is generalizable - you can replace 22% with any other percentage, and the same ormula applies.

You can do both primary and secondary with as low as 100,000. If you have 50m and above you can give them your rate or just go with theirs
