Jerry Mallo was born in 1994 to Nigerian parents in Plateau State, Nigeria. He is the CEO of Bennie Technologies, Ltd. He built the country’s first locally manufactured carbon fibre sports car, the Bennie Purrie. According to Jerry Mallo, he was inspired to create the Bennie Purrie because Nigeria and Africa as a whole have a large market for luxury vehicles.

He is a fabrication engineer who became famous for building electricity generators, agricultural equipment and prototype cars. This attracted the attention of Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, who sponsored his education at the University of Hertfordshire. Although he did not graduate from the university, he had offers to work in the UK automobile industry, but chose to return to Nigeria to produce farm equipment because his parents were farmers and he wanted to change the way that people worked on the farm in Nigeria.

In a way he reminds me of Ferruccio Lamborghini. Lamborghini started out making tractors for agriculture. He became so rich that he could afford to buy expensive sportscars. He owned Ferraris, Mercedes Benz and Jaguar sportscars.

However, he constantly had clutch problems with his Ferraris. He would often have to take them back to the dealership for repairs. He brought the problems to the attention of Enzo Ferrari (the founder of Ferrari cars), but Enzo Ferrari dismissively asked him what he knew about cars and told him to stick to tractors.

Lamborghini took the car back to his own engineers and they were able to fix the problem and make the car better. That's how Ferruccio Lamborghini got the inspiration to make supercars.

Jerry Mallo makes most of his money from making agricultural and food processing machines. He builds tractors, harvesters, threshers and machines for processing garri, corn and other foodstuff. He builds sportscars on demand and as a side job.

Bennie Sternum

He took the lessons he learnt from making the Bennie Purrie and applied them into making his second car called the Bennie Sternum, which was unveiled in 2024.

Being a sequel to the Purrie, the Sternum is a luxury sports car with off-road capabilities. It is our next chapter because it takes aerodynamic optimization with subtle changes that take it from 0-100mkph in 6.2 seconds.

The large air vents on the door sides improve airflow to its two radiators (one on each side) for better cooling and improved down force to keep the car stable and quick. It has a redesigned suspension system with variable ride height – making it a perfect vehicle for different kinds of *terrain. With more attention to detailing on the inside, there’s a 6 inch smart entertainment and control system with android auto. More on the car specs in a bit.

Taking inspiration from the human sternum which is part of the rib cage that protects the lungs and heart, The Bennie Sternum name symbolizes our commitment to safety. More on the idea of the name at the end of this brochure where we feature an interview of Jerry Mallo.

THE FUTURE

With the continuous evolution of the automotive industry, new technologies and designs are being developed all the time. We envision that our future car models will be designed and manufactured taking into consideration a number of these new trends.

Electric Vehicles

One of the biggest trends in the automotive industry is the shift towards electric vehicles (EVs). Many major car manufacturers are investing heavily in the development of EVs, with plans to phase out internal combustion engines over the coming years. As battery technology continues to improve, EVs are expected to become more affordable and practical for everyday use. Bennie Automobile is not left behind as we plan to soon launch our EVs especially with Nigeria’s potential in the recent trend of lithium exploitation.

Sustainable Materials

As the world becomes increasingly environmentally conscious, car manufacturers are exploring new ways to make their vehicles more energy efficient and green. This includes the use of recycled and renewable materials, as well as the development of more efficient manufacturing processes. Bennie Automobile is working on a future of green manufacturing.

Connectivity

The integration of wireless communications and smart systems into our vehicles. Many new cars are now equipped with advanced infotainment systems and helpful smart software and hardware such as GPS navigation, voice recognition, and smartphone integration, self-driving, etc. We are catching up with these as our team grows and we develop our own unique systems.

Autonomous Vehicles

Another major future plan of Bennie Automobile is the development of autonomous vehicles. Car manufacturers are investing in self-driving technology, with plans to launch fully autonomous vehicles in the near future. These vehicles have the potential to revolutionise the way we travel, with the ability to reduce accidents and traffic congestion. We also envisioned going that pathway as the technology unfolds.

Regular Vehicles

Bennie Automobile also plans on making readily available regular cars to reach our customers who cannot afford our luxury vehicles. These cars are going to be fully EVs.

"A prophet has no honour in his own country" is the story of Nigeria. I clicked on this story to see a shambolic box of scrap metal and all the "we too dey celebrate mediocrity for this country" comments under it. However, lo and behold, I saw an impressive job done by a young man younger than me. It's inspiring and I naturally expected some kudos instead of the condescending comments.

If you've never built anything this interesting in your life, you have no right to condemn it because you're just a pathetic, lousy, little hater. If you have built anything significant, you'll know not to condemn good effort but to encourage and offer constructive criticism.

A super car with a VW Golf Mk 2 engine

I knock projects like this because it's akin to climbing a ladder from the top. What happened to restomods where you make older cars more fuel efficient or more performance oriented using minor tweaks.

I know this 'supercar' is only a publicity stunt anyway.
